Anything to Pass the Time

By Tone Matrix on June 23, 2024 3:32 pm

Waited until Saturday night to smear a noodle out.  One of those weeks where you spend more time listening to music and watching music tutorial vids.  I came across a vid going over Elliott Smith's chord progression style.  "How Elliott Smith Writes Chord Progressions"
https://youtu.be/HmcSWQ3CZYg?si=GTVTdem4bmcX_ejm

He used the dominant major 2nd or secondary dominant in many of his songs.  Not that I'm that well versed in music theory but it did provide a quick idea to get me started.  The good ol' I II IV progression tongue
Hope you are all well, almost haif way there heart

Beautiful track, great tones. This was a great track to start the week with.

Very calm and pleasant, felt refreshed after listening to it.

I love me some David Bennett Piano. This really does have a deeply Elliot Smith vibe to it.  The chord progression to be sure, but more so the way you played the piece.  Rhythmic and percussive, but with an almost antisipitorial for each new chord.  Lovely work.

Great sound and some really appealing melodies.  I can almost hear some nearly whispered vocals singing the title along to some of the sections.

A stunning composition and perfect performance. Lovely and sentimental. Thanks.

sir, you have my attention, sir!

It's a less commonly used chord progression, so definitely nice to hear it here. But after two minutes I was ready to let it go, fortunately you were, too big_smile That change in chords first and then the more sparse arrangement at the end = very good.

Quite a nice noodle. Sweet, direct, and uplifting. heart

A great way to pass the time, always enjoy your piano noodles and how you can convey so much without having to use too much or make things messy.

Love this strip down version as well, but this week track is pretty awesome too!
