More Bass Practice

By Tomatron.Jones on February 8, 2026 9:53 am

Yet another cram to finish this week's beat since my usual beat-making day is going to be with band recording. I just took some of the bass lines I've been practicing for recording tomorrow and changed them a bit up and threw some samples that I tweaked on top of it. Just some weird punk drums and bass with some weird crunchy synth pads. Not super happy with it, totally out of time, and too tired to care. Unfortunately, sometimes you just gotta ship something you know kinda sucks.

* American P-Bass recorded through Scarlet Focusrite 4i4
* Drums and synth pads from Splice
* Ample use of Transit, Valhalla
* Gullfoss and Ozone Elements for mastering

Total time: 2 hours 30 minutes

not too bad! nice u can make stuff like this so fast! it will be good progress tracking when u look back. bass is solid!

Like a Joy Division vibe in places.

Ah, good point. Half the point of the Weekly Beats is slogging through and being productive with no judgement. Thanks!

Oh thanks! I should go back and listen to them, it's been a while.

A lot of cool bass riffs in here—even if you weren't satisfied with the track as a whole, keep them around to plunder for later tracks when you are looking for a little extra special sauce
