Train behind glass

Edit: listening back to this on the Monday after it has gone up and feeling less happy with it than previous weeks. Wish I could go back and drop it down, redo the vocals etc etc. BUT this is the joy of weeklybeats! Lessons learned to apply in future!
Another busy week so I am doing this on a Sunday afternoon yet again! Guitar in DADGAD tuning, with a capo on the 4th fret. Probably a bit high for my voice. Yet again I got carried away trying to do harmonies, which I ran out of patience/skill with so some are left wanting. Simple bass guitar for texture - couldn't figure out any bass lines that complemented it better.
Lyrics are loosely inspired by taking my first ride on the new metro tunnel trains in Melbourne (yes I'm aware that sounds silly, it is). Low-key life-changing to get across the city for me personally though. It's exciting to see something so big happen in your city. It reminds me of when they finally opened the skyrail stations back in the late 2010s.
Some highlights from this week: went to see Billie Marten and Maple Glider - incredible what they can do with just their voice and guitar, and also how well they can do both and then do them both at the same time!! Saw a wonderful sunset at St Kilda pier. Ate tomatoes from my garden. Had a very cute ringtail possum visit my courtyard and pose for some photos. My cat keeping me company while I made music. Made very decadent nachos. All in all a very good week.
Apologies that I haven't got around to listening to people's weeklybeats this week! I will get to them soon I promise!
where is the ground
I used to walk on
I swear it used to be
right by that window
these days go so fast
I can't help but watch them go past
A speeding train behind glass
oh it echoes in this chamber
an eery silence gathers round
oh time feels so heavy
when it's buried underground
these days go so fast
I can't help but watch them go past
A speeding train behind glass
I walk these streets alongside
the boy I used to be and I
see ahead the man I
could have been as I
walk these streets with the
boy I used to be and
the man I am
