No goodbyes

By Tom Foolery on March 12, 2026 12:06 pm

I have literally start to finish recorded this in half an hour (after bedtime no less). I may come back and edit this description if I get time, we shall see.

Tomorrow is my last day at the job I have been at for 5 years. I am heading off to good things, so it's exciting, but it's sad to say goodbye. A very bittersweet day ahead.
This week has been very very busy, and I'm heading off travelling to visit family on Saturday, so I rushed out this quiet piece late on Thursday night. Trying not to wake the neighbours. I had a very stressful evening rushing around, and rather than going to bed on time, I decided to unwind and record this, and it worked. I feel soothed. As an aside, my voice had not been cooperating at all the past few days, so I'm pleasantly surprised by how (most of) the vocal take turned out??? I'll take it as a win.

Best wishes for the road ahead, sounds like it'll be a fulfilling journey! Beautiful farewell song. heart

Good luck on your new adventure! Amazing that you were able to create this in half an hour. It's a beautiful song!

Great track, and reading description it adds up to the story. Without description it would be great as well, you can build your own story around it.

Wish you the best for the next chapter!

Cool track, I like the delays and vocal delivery there.

The lo-fi cozy feeling of this is very nice.  Impressive, especially for how quickly it was recorded.  Good luck on the road ahead.

Nice chill track, best of luck on the new chapter!

just lovely & yes, bittersweet. hope your last day was everything you needed it to be, Warwick.
i think it's a special thing that we have these songs to mark our lives. not that it's their only purpose, but damn if they aren't time machines.

onward to new adventures heart

Definitely a win! Glad to hear that you have good days a head

beautiful.

very nice

Very different but for some reason makes me think of an old Khonnor song from the 2000's.

Exciting news about your next chapter ahead and yes WB is perfect for these moments.  This was such a calming soothing listen.  Your vocals with the soft guitar was such a pleasing sound.  Excellent work!

I need to sing, thank you for inspiring me

its really amazing how you fleshed out the guitar and vocals to come together in this super nice song

wishing you

this is beautiful

What a great send-off piece! Wishing you all the best.

Thank you everyone for listening and leaving nice comments, and also for wishing me luck on the future! I didn't get time to come and update the description, but I thought I would share a story from my last day with you all:

My boss arranged for everyone to bring in an instrument they had lying at home, which resulted in a guitar, a ukulele, a recorder, a zither, a tiny casio keyboard, and a full-size electronic keyboard. He was determined to find out if I could play all of them! I played a little tune on each of them (except the recorder, because although I can, I thought it would be merciful to opt out of it). It was a bit embarrassing as I hadn't prepared anything, but it was fun! Then, at the end of all this, he said this was an example of how I brought much more to the workplace than just the work I did. That my life outside of the office seeped into office life, and that made the office a better place. I struggled to keep it together.

I was known at work for having an eccentric ergo keyboard on my desk, and using a fountain pen (a gift from my mum a long time ago). As such, no one could use anything on my desk as they found it terribly inconvenient and difficult. As a parting gift for them, I gave them all an inconvenient fountain pen to remember me by.

It was sad to go, but they were all happy to see me off to good things.

:')

excellent

oh my how cute heart beautiful tune and happy to read about the work thing. often it can be very heartless.

also love reading the same old story how many folks are spending their evenings pushing out quick n dirty tracks that are actually so beautiful!!!

Fellow inconvenient fountain pen user smile

Happy to sacrifice a bit of inconvenience for less disposability and generally better writing experiences. Switched over a few years ago and never went back. Your mum knows what's up.

Ergo stuff has also really helped me (mouse and chair in particular). I have some hand and arm problems.

This is so pleasant. A release.
