3 Weekly Beats 2024 Moonbeam

By thgirwnhoj on January 21, 2024 7:17 pm

My first two tracks have been described as chill and relaxed, so I intentionally tried to pick up the energy this week. I was inspired by a Bonobo track where he alternated between these two different types of beats, so this song came out with two distinct parts. I was having some ideas about where else I could take those parts, but decided to wrap it up. The final touches were mostly taking elements out rather than adding things in. It's only Week 3 and I am realizing I need to pace myself for the rest of the weeks ahead!

love the minimal percussion, it adds way more energy than it has any right to haha. the pulsing synths are great too. very nicely put together!

Definitely picked up the pace a bit with the percussion, claps and pulsing synth.
Love this one. Favoriting!

interesting to read your writeup about your process. i like the upbeat energy, although it still has a peacefulness/chill vibe to it as well. love that sort of hazy sounding instrument that appears at 1:31. nice work!

Groovy
You definitely succeeded

Great energy! The minimal synth melody for the first minute fits so perfectly with everything else, then the variety comes in at just the right time. I think whatever you removed was probably the right call, everything has a place but it never feels like something is missing.

Thank you! And I agree, those small percussive elements can surprisingly make a big difference.

Thanks! And I'm glad I can add a little context with my summary. I always enjoy learning about other peoples' process too.

Nice! If anything I do can be described as "Groovy," then I know I'm on the right track! Thanks!

Thank you so much! Yes, exactly, I am trying to find the right place and right time for all of the different elements.

Thank you!!! Yes, the entire track was built around the idea of having those two kick drum parts work together. I'm glad it resonated!

Yeah! Guitar is the sound I was going for, but that GIF has the moves I was trying to inspire! Thanks!
