Weight On Me

By TheErinWaterShow on January 21, 2026 6:51 pm

Week 4, Song #3 - A song from many years ago that I never finished. Practicing adding backing vocals and timing. This one came from feeling the weight of others claiming to know who I was and not fully seeing all of me, but knowing that is the reality of the world. In turn, I can change how I engage with the world and myself.

Verse 1:
Everybody knows.
Everybody sees.
Everybody thinks…
they know me.

Verse 2:
This life is hard,
but we’re (I’m) still here.
Don’t know quite how,
but we’ll get there.

Chorus:
That’s the way of the world.
That’s the way of the world.
That’s the way of the world.
That’s the weight on me.
That’s the weight on me.

Verse 3:
Staying calm.
Patience now.
Breathe in, breathe out.
I stand my ground.

Chorus:
That’s the way of the world.
That’s the way of the world.
That’s the weight of the world.
That’s the weight on me.
That’s the weight on me.

Nice job. Love the background vocals!

Another holy-shit performance; the foreground and background are both fantastic.

Also, THANK YOU for posting lyrics!  Fiancé has language-processing issues and it's really helpful to reinforce the lyrics in real-time by following along with the text.

The chorus keeps getting stuck in my head. It's so beautiful!

oof, this is pretty emotionally heavy

the two-part piano melody really works for the "tenuous/barely holding on" feeling

Another mighty performance.
