Heartbeat

By TheDaeVolta on February 15, 2026 3:05 pm

This week I had complete creative block until Saturday morning, so the track doesn't have the structure I usually like, and it's as close to finished as usual

BUT

I hit a goal of using hardware for all sounds (crinkling paper counts as hardware, right?), and after murmuring out some lyrics and such it quickly morphed into a song pulling from Poe's The Tell-tale Heart!

Paper is definitely hardware.

Yeah, the paper is a real star here! I also love the vocals and lyrics ... takes it to a whole new level! Congrats!

Oh man that paper makes some crispy percussion! I love how you play with stereo around that heavy heart pump bass. The vocals are great - nice and haunted, understated, and just a little crazed. Creepy. Love the ending where there's nothing left but the heart sound.

That sound is awesome. Such a nice rhythmic element. And I think I said it before, but I also really dig this vocal style.

Using things like paper/pills/mouth sounds, and then only hearing the (quantized) transients is such a great little trick! Thank you!

Yes! Thank you for picking up on the heart-beat!
