This week I explored my past by attempting a song in the vein of how I used to make music 10 years ago. This track is composed of heavily processed samples and a couple instances of SublabXL. Listening to it on my laptop speakers rather than my monitors, I feel like I should have done a little more treatment on the four on the floor kicks to make them cut through the mix at higher frequencies, but I think the pumping effect I'm getting with track spacer kinda gives the impression it's there even if small speakers can't quite produce the low low. I had fun with this, my partner came into the room while I was working on it, and was stoked to catch the vibe, so overall I'm happy with how it came out. I'm thinking about incorporating this type of more dance-ish stuff more again.
