Superfluous anectdote:
Today my computer started crashing every time i opened my DAW, serious blue screen of death type stuff... I tried everything and thought that there might be something wrong with my hardware (it's a pretty old computer with a dysfunctional battery and a uncontained drive, so it wouldn't really be surprising). I ended up resetting windows. When it stopped at 68% i was pretty sure that i had lost everything (because i'm a stupid person who don't back things up (i don't what i would use a backup for with no computer anyhow)).  when it finished the message in the picture came up on the screen and i thought i sounded pretty sinister (especially in danish) "Leave everything to us". anyways that seemed to fix it, and my progress with this weeks track wasn't entirely lost (it did crash once again, but i think it might just be the battery.)
Process Notes:
This week started with the idea of using the approach i used last week with layering dense textures, but I wanted to try with some tonal stuff. I recorded a minute of simple ukulele fingerpicking 1234 chords, then copied it to 10 tracks panned and shifted around a bit, and reversed it after. Filtered with automation to create movement, I think this was a pretty cool sound. I made three of these, which appear individually but also layered (in the end all three play at once). Also from last week i decided recycle the water sound.
Also i got cables to connect my analog synthesizer to my interface this week, i found it pretty interesting to play it with the tune knob (starring into a tuner on my computer) while singing with it, so this turned into a song for no other reason. Later a layered more synth and vocals. The lyrics were just whatever came out of my mouth, they are in danish. Not completely sure of the meaning...

this is fantastic

this is the kinda track that gets bought by some tv series and you live the rest of your life in a nice house (ok maybe not in Copenhagen in 2024 but you get my point!)

hard to find words for it, masterful execution! the sound design is awesome, the singing is befitting and reminds me of great sounding nordic folk metal stuff. the lyrics are also nice, gloomy and ominous. everything goes well together, the water sounds are a great representation of KBH as well as fit with the track! I also wanna hear more about what you did to your voice! There's a nice saturation on it, is it purely from the technique/the layers? love it!!!!!! heart

Hi thank you for the kind words! I feel a bit awkward putting up something with vocals on it, so it’s much appreciated!

The saturation is from klanghelms IVGI plug-in. Apart from that i used TAL reverb 4 which is also really nice (both are free which is incredible). Singing into a small diaphragm condenser mic (because it’s what i have not really a creative choice), and across it as i dont have a pop filter for it. Then eq i took out low end and boosted high mid and semi random compression. I think also there was a bit of “lag” in my technique as i was trying to tune the synth while singing. I think there are four takes of vocal across the entire track (excluding harmony voices).

Lub dis!

super cool! thanks for the breakdown!

would listen to an album of this, really love your vocal on here.
thank you

Lovely. Reminds me of Under Byen for some reason.
