Perfourmance Review - W3

By SQF on January 18, 2026 6:15 pm

Welcome back everyone!
Thanks again for all the comments, apologies on my responses, I am listening to your songs though!
Hoping life will calm down soon for more engagement.

---------
This song began as a sketch on the roland s-1 learning how to use it's onboard sequencer, I then made some loops and variations of the sketch on the m8 along with setting up parameter scenes on the oxi e16.

I recently was fortunate enough to find a nice reverb deal on a vermona perfourmer which I've been lusting over for quite some time.
I'm enjoying all the knobs and sound exploration that I don't even have the option to midi control.

The vermona and s-1 together really compliment each other and I put together this performance, recorded a video and learned some new editing tricks.

Enjoy!

Cool groove and bass line. Love the build up at 2:00 and the growly finish. Nice work!

It's always cool to get some new toys/tools for the arsenal.  It looks fun to play with, too.  I always like that tactile sensation of turning a physical knob.  You've whipped up a hot little groove here, too.  I'm bopping my head along with it.

Super dope track. Great shuffle on the drums, tiny bongos/drums are great, builds really well, great breakdown, great sounds, love it!

DUUUUDE!!! This came up in the "weekly meats" channel when I was not lookign at the stream and I immediately thought "I'm 90% sure this is SQF". I was so pleased to see I was right, hahaahhaha...
Fantastic work, man, holy shit, I'm SO envious of your sound here! I'm so impressed with what you were able to get with these two pieces of gear, amazing man!!!

Oh that is a nice track SQF! Cool pulse and alternative melodies that give a sense of depth to the track.

That is such a solid bass hook! A track like this deserves a promotion. big_smile

This is such a great groove! Love what you’re getting out of those pieces…thick tones that just dance. Great track!

Damn that middle 8 change up at ~2:13 was so well placed, peferct way to keep the track moving, and make the core loop even tastier for the end.  And, man the sizzle comin out of that PERfourMER... awesome sounds man.

Oof yais love that bassy synth!  Such a thick sound to it.  Excellent changeup at the 2:20ish mark.  The drums keep the groove nodding.  The vermona looks so fun with all dem knobs yikes Excellent track!

this is such a cool track, great song!

Seriously an epic piece of music. SUPERCOOL PERFORMANCE. Well done SQF.

Hats and shaker groove really nicely. Enjoyed the livestream. Have always wondered how y’all do it on that little thing

Sweet, lovely analog vibes and chill grooves. Now you got me lusting for a perfourmer too!

Tasty synths.

I'll give you good review for your perfourmance. On target for all the KPIs...

damn i love that bass lead. so groovy

Echoing others, the bass lead is so so good. So funky, so good.

Do you feel like you also learned a lot through chasing the beat and talking to our fellow brethren?
I personally feel like they gave me some newfound perspectives and helped me let go of some annoying perfectionism.
Also, man this sounds so good, love the beat and how the synths are crying out.
Onto perfivemance!

Flows like a river. Love the focus on the melodic elements. Not everything needs to be about beats!

yo this is SO GOOD, and well done on the video too!
i wrote you some sick rhymes for this:

SQF cooking beats in the lab
cat says gimme more reverb dad
purple rhythms on the new vermona
this podcast boss is a true perfourma

Cool beat! Nice live tweaking of stuff, that's what it's all about! Nice to see the gear in action and those compressors and all, it looks like a lot of fun to play, and sounds polished and groovy! Thanks for letting us into your room!

that groove too,

kinda makes me want to take my clothes off y'know?

its got that feel.

Love the motion on this track, very engaging.  Love your studio setup, makes me want to reconfigure mine.

Great work, lovely laid back feel.

That kick sits with everything else so nice

Love the synths in this, and a good chill groove that flows, I dig it. Awesome to see the performance, would love to see more!

Did you know SQF stands for Still Quite Funky?

The instruments are the perfect amount of dynamic here, the sound takes its time unfolding at a great pace. Awesome track!
