midi test w44

By SQF on November 3, 2024 5:05 pm

I was digging back through old files and came across this sub37 sample that evidently at one point was a midi sequencing test. I thought it was kind of cool so I started building on top if it and boom, a song is born.

I decided to keep that element going for the majority of the song and in some sections it almost feels like a rhythmic element in the background.

Around 3:30 I used another sample from a sample pack and felt like it fit pretty well. I then transition back to the first chorus section to finish the song though maybe that transition isn't as smooth.

Overall it flows better than last weeks medley.
Really happy with how this one turned out!

It's also insane looking back at a 44 week streak of songs and proud that I pushed through on the weeks where I just wasn't motivated but sat down to have fun rather than produce a work and in the end a work was produced.

Definitely some life learnings to carry forward after this weekly beats experience.

I'm also really enjoying the community and hearing everyone's own style and approach. Maybe we can do some monthly/quarterly beats collabs in the off season to keep the community going!

Love how dense this gets! Really rich sounding. My ear kept darting around finding all the textures. The sections that strip it all away are great - sort of a break, and then it continues to build back up. Great track!

OH FUCK YEAH!
I'm SO into this! Funky, groovy, dark and moody. AAAAND it's got some pretty great sounding synths. Fantastic work. Not a single note, this is awesome.

Yes, absolutely! I'm happy that the frenetic pace of weekly beats is coming to an end and will give me a little more time to breathe, but I totally agree - having something less frequent but still regular would be badass.

The repeating sample grounds this and gives the rest of the elements the freedom to soar off where they will.  It really feels like some of those synths are taking flight.

I often seem to experience a letdown in non-WB years where I often hardly make any music at all.  I'm thinking about doing a personal every other week track just to kind of keep it going without the hectic pace, but monthly/quarterly collabs sound like a cool idea, too.

The sub37 line quickly establishes the slick groove of this and then those thick wavy synth leads come in and i'm all in, hands in the air like i just don't care!  Such a catchy good melody.  Suhweet lil breakdown with those chordy pads that then return to the main synths so nicely.  Well done!

100%. This year has been absolutely amazing, full stop, and I'm a little bummed it's coming to a close. But I'm also looking forward to slowing the pace and being able to do some deep dives into gear and compositions. Definitely want to keep the community going!
