do your part, recycle - W10

This week was a pure creative journey on the Digitakt 2
I recycled some sounds from previous DT2 projects but only kept one pattern from my project copy.
Like a good sourdough starter, maybe saving a little bit from another projects helps grow a new song.

Listening back to my impulsive decisions now in a musical I like to ask what it means?
The meaning is kind of a snapshot of everything right now, the present or at least a week of time, which feels like an average of the weeks mood in a way.

From part A to B in the track we go from a happy mood to maybe angry then somehow find ourselves back to a happy place. I never revisit A and right now that kind of feels like many moments in our lives where things change and we can't go back.

The name of the track, alluding to recycling song material is also a bit of a nod to the world, our society and control. We're told to do our part to save the planet, to recycle, so save water, and we do, because it feel like we're taking control of the situation. Meanwhile the rich and powerful destroy everything.

Like this song we've now started a war for no reason at all and things will never be the same. Exactly how I'm not sure. I have very little control of the situation but I do hope like the song we come out on the other side and find better, happier times.

hahaha, this song is nothing like the war we've started: and that's a very good thing. thank you for creating this thick juicy goodness of a beauty. wishing us all a triumphant return to sanity, just like this track resounds with heart

It does seem to go through a little change in moods, but the feeling I'm walking away with is happiness.  I agree, it's a helpless and maddening feeling to watch uncaring powerful people destroy our world, but I'm trying to remain optimistic that somehow this will all lead to a change for the better.  I hope there's some prophetic power to your track.

That thin pitch bendy pad in the intro is so cool. And the narrative arc of having to move through uncertainty to get to hope definitely resonates. Hope you're doing okay.

Ha, nothing like it, you're right. I'll think about triumphant returns, that seems better.

I hope so too! I thought about dropping the A part but liked the change up.

Thanks! I'm doin alright, appreciate it smile I think it's easy to get lost in making a song and be so happy you're creating you forget about the outside world. I think that's what happened here.

Ooof yais that gritty growlin bassline is so good with the drums.  Especially those lead synths take off.  The lil plucks over top too.  So many cool bits supporting that thick bass.  Well done!

I love the big space bass! And these percussive sounds left and right, before going into fuzz territory.
The track structure is interesting - it evolves and morphs, taking us through different sonic spaces.
What a journey! Thank you for taking us along!

I recycle the same rock beat again and again. smile

That counts right?

i was thinking about plastic, paper, glass.
slow is gold
