Cryptic Grass W34

Heyyyy week 34!

This might be one of my top favorite creations so far. Though, does anyone else feel this way until the next creation? I think this was a huge barrier to releasing things prior to weekly beats. Once I get 3 to 4 projects going at once I don't like the older stuff as much and then lose confidence in releasing it.

So, before I have a chance to hate it, I push it out the door, and if I hate it later I don't have to listen to it anymore lol.

Started with this plucky thing and then came up with a prechorus/chorus that I felt was pretty catchy. I think I'm getting better at building the feel of a song and coming back to some familiar parts with some changes here and there to keep it interesting. But, I'll let you be the judge.

Thanks again for the listens/comments and looking forward to hearing what you've got for 34!

I love this spooky-sounding progression! Reminds me if Luigi's Mansion was having a dance party. Great job with the lead sound as well.

I think it's pretty common to be most excited by what you've done most recently, but it is a good reason to just release and move on, because otherwise we might overlook stuff we did longer ago.  There is something sinister or spooky about this.  Definitely a haunted house party vibe.

I love the upbeat creepiness! Great sounds & a nice clean mix. Add to that your catchy tune and I'm in love for sure.
I hear you about pushing stuff out the door before you have the chance to hate it. I tend to go in waves - I'll be excited about a track, but if I have time I fiddle with it until I ruin it. With WB I have to cut the cord and move on, so by the time I get back to an older track I've jumped from hating it to saying "Oh, there's actually a few good ideas in here." It's nice to be able to create distance from your work for a more objective look at it.

YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH this is HELLA groovy. Those leads are SOOOO NASTY, this fucking rules!!!! Super happy to hear you're happy with this one - you very  well should be! =P
Great job all around. Sound design, mixing, structure, composition. It's all really, really great!!!

I just gotta comment here again: I love how spooky this feels. thai_ranjit is 100% right - totally feels like a dance party at Luigi's Mansion, hahahahaha...

Agree it has a certain sinister/spookiness to it.  Like the main character is on the hunt or either being chased by the baddies.  Excellent drum sound and the synth leads are super catchy.

vibe is STRONG here, hell yeah!
sounds fantastic and yeah, there's a real movement and story. really nice work

Confusing grass, but a very fine beat
- Ebrit

back for more. seriously love this one

HAHA yessss. I don't set out to make spooky, it just comes out of me. Maybe it's the influence of halloween merch already on the shelves.

Thanks! Definitely seeing the positives of creating and moving on. Glad you were spooked.

Thanks! It's nice to reduce the time to fiddle with something until you ruin it, all just second guessing things that you probably shouldn't. I'm sure I'll have a list of good lessons learned by week 52
