Where Was Security? (WB02)

By spry on January 16, 2022 7:56 pm

Look, I realize people died and it's a lot more complicated than this. Most of them were not playing on their phones. People fought for their lives and defending their beliefs on that day and some people lost their lives for it. But some small minority of security forces were definitely playing on their phones.

I wrote this on January 7th 2021 and recorded myself a 1 minute demo on my phone. I never found it appropriate to touch it again but if not after the 1 year anniversary then when? Too soon?

Attempting to mix live mic-ed acoustic/classical guitar, tongue-in-cheek vocals and live DI eclectic bass (first time playing and recording myself with it!). I dont know about the vox but I don't think this song was ever meant to sound good lolz

Any tips on fixing this mix? It's pretty rough and dirty with just some basic compressors, eq and limiters. Incidentally, having to think about performing a live instrument takes a lot more time than telling a computer to do it.

The song that had to be made.

My tip for mixing, never back down, only boost.

its well written and well played! also love the raspy, croonin' and wailin' Cashesque vocal delivery

Gruff!!!

Yes. This. Enthusiastic guitar playing and vocals with character. Unfortunately, not being a native speaker it's hard for me to tell what is said but the theme made it sound very interesting!

I got had a giggle from this tongue

As for mixing I think boosting your guitar and doubling up the parts and panning for a wider spread could get you something a little more polished. Honestly, I don't mind the raw demo as is though.

wow this is haunting, and the description.  great vocals, really enjoy this new turn for you in '22
