Way Station (WB14)

Upped the speed a little further again.  Spent about an hour putting together the sections, 10 minutes setting the structure and another 20 minutes mixing.  Total time about 1 and a half hours.

Still trying to keep the style nice and light but pushing the tempo back to trance levels.  i think i might be onto something.

Quite mellow for approaching-trance speeds. Much liked!

mmm those low-passed arpeggiating synths are phenomenal, would be cool to throw an extreme sidechain or gate on there. as it is it's cool how it travels around and morphs, especially in the latter half.

Oh man this was totally ill within 3 seconds and only got better.  I fully endorse your exploration at this tempo.

I say this every week but MAN I love your kick drum variations and I love your compression to make things breathe or pop through!

Yeah i think you should explore faster tempos. Like the grooves and rhythm in this one

heart im glad you think so.  ive got a lot of those compressors running at the very edge of their tolerances.  would you believe me if i said there were only 3 bass drum patterns in the whole song? ^^

Thanks!  i played around with a thicker sidechain on this one but it was making me dizzy so i had to back it down lol.

word. on it 8|

You should try playing with the tempo mid-song, or dynamically even with automation. This song would be amazing if it started at around 60bpm then linearly goes to about 180bpm at the end.
