Overture

Hi everyone! This is my first year participating in WeeklyBeats. I'm a software dev and interested in making music for decades, but I never quite managed to actually do it. From time to time I buy a piece of gear, play around with it for a few days, and then other things become more important. I hope that WeeklyBeats will finally make me actually produce stuff and stick with it.
I've titled this one "Overture" because, well, it's the first track, and it kinda works as a slow start into an album or something. Not sure whether it's a good idea to approach WeeklyBeats as an album of 52 tracks, but I'll try for as long as it makes sense.
This track has been produced entirely on the Synthstrom Deluge, mainly with stock patches. I don't have an extensive library of presets and samples yet, but I expect this to change over the course of the year.
The main weakness of the track is probably the mastering, I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to that. The melody showing up in the second half doesn't fully fit the rest of the track's vibe, but I found it to be irresistibly catchy and just had to include it somehow.
Feel free to ask questions or give feedback. I'm here to learn, and that includes constructive criticism.
Also, what genre would you say this is? It definitely has some synthwave elements, but I'm not sure whether it fits perfectly.
You probably won't find me on the Discord, but if you're on the Fediverse, I'm @[email protected]. Have a great week everyone!
