Lost in the Fescue

By Saucey-dough on June 21, 2020 8:41 pm

This was a fun week. I ended up recording a blues/rock tune with a very special guest. My girlfriends's dad has been know to slay on the guitar. I recorded all of the drums, backing guitar, and bass. Pete popped in for all the lead guitar. Happy Father's Day to all the WB-Dads out there.

Crank this one to 11.

Damn, that dad can wail.  What a jam.  Now I'm gonna haul ass to Lollapolooza!

Thanks! Interesting the snare panned left probably to leave more space for the lead guitar at right? Again solid drums. Well done.

That was great! You should be sending out tracks to people to rip on, that'd be a winner.

Nice catch Djippy! I did pan it slightly left to have the guitar take center stage. You nailed it! It was kind of an experiment. Did you find it distracting or did it work? Thanks as always for the drum recognition. I wanted to make them a huge sound, but almost a garage-like tone.

I love this idea man. I wonder how many guitarists on here would take to that idea!

Dude yes this is great.  Really clean production.  Awesome drums as usual.  Guitar RIPS.  Has he ever been part of the recording process?  Sometimes the talent isn't used to it and it can take a while.  Sounds like he knows what he's doing though!

Haha thanks man! I don't really believe so. He was actually pretty intimidated by the whole thing, but then ended up getting pretty comfortable with the whole process. He had moments of becoming fixated with the riff being recorded, and somewhat forgetting there was a song that it needed to meld with. It was such a fun bonding experience though. He already wants another shot at it! Haha.

bitchin track.  knew it'd be a good listen from the nasty drum intro

Ah that's a drummer's track and a drummer led intro! Very nice! And the bass / drum lock is great. Nice panning of the drum set and overall mix. A good bluesy track always feels good. Good job there!

Got to have that drum and bass lock! I'm surprised people noticed the snare being off center. It was just a smidge to the left! Thanks for listening!

PEEEEEETE

You were both killing it, great job you two.

It was actually just the blues blaster combo amp in Logic with their pedalboard plugin using their "Spin Box" pedal. Its supposed to mimic a Leslie Horn amplifier. Used quite often in the jam world.
