Into the Cave

By Saguaro Gigante on January 14, 2024 11:52 pm

Really enjoyed making this one! I had some fun this week trying to mix in some electronic instruments with my usual guitars and bass. I'm not really able to play keys, so I mostly stuck to using arpeggiators, but it seems like there is quite a bit you can do with them. I really like the mix of electronic and traditional instrument sounds and I will definitely try to use more of this approach this year. I may even be motivated to start learning some keys/piano in order to make using electronic instruments more convienent. I also tried to pay a bit more attention to getting the final track to sound a bit more polished by adding some EQ and compression on the main stereo track to even things out without getting too fixated on small details. For my ears at the moment I think it sounds fairly balanced, though it really seems to depend what I'm listening to it on. I would have liked to make the drums a bit more custom programmed, but I've been finding more ways to use the Logic Drummer plugin to where I can find patterns that are pretty close to what I would have wanted anyway and it saves time.

Damn boy, this is some adventuring music right here. It's cool that you even fused some guitar playing with the electronic elements and made it sit well in the mix. Donna says its easy on the ears and makes her smile. Really nice progression around the 2 minute mark. Excellent solos as always, especially that one in the second half. Sooo tasty. Dare I say, may be among your best! Awesome job this week dude.
(The outro is delightful ear candy too)

All the things viridian said, plus my favorite part is around the 3 minute mark. The bell synth arp buildup, then the delicious solo on top. Really solid work here. Mix sounds nicely balanced. Seems like you have become a master of Logic Drummer. The beat that starts around :45 fits great. Keep it up!

Fantastic track. Solid daydreaming tune. Great emotive solos.

the guitars sound great when they kick in around :40!

Wow, that was fun! Gives me some inspiration to try some similar type of things. Although I can't solo on guitar like that. haha. Nice job, bro.

Sick tune! Solos galore!

Awesome upbeat feel throughout.  The arp synth adds a nice supportive touch to the driving guitar.  Arpeggiators are def a lot of fun to play with.  They can sometimes work on electronic drums for percussive elements too.  Epic sounding track that makes me feel like I just discovered a giant chasm in that cave smile

i'm really pro "chiptune in SG trax"
