Dove

1 doesn’t want to face the books
she aims to sail out to the waves

2 doesn’t want to face the waves,
he writes a chapter where he walks away

3 doesn’t want for pomp or glory
she’d rather sit back and paint a pretty place

4 doesn’t want to sit around
she’s going to take a stand today

parents don’t always know how to mold- how to work with clay.

Life and Death are two scientists operating out of a cave.

Then there’s the boy who doesn’t understand his own fins.

His friend’s got gills, but they both can’t seem to dive in.

Kid, the world’s a dark place, can’t trust the dolphins.

Two lovers living in debt, they peer into an empty lab.

One mother, one father, making all the mistakes they ought’nt have.

From ocean to desert, we all dehydrate

Death visits, life, is it?
Something they can mend.

Tradition, ignition, she aims to paint the blaze.

A scholarly decision, the courage to walk away.

Relinquish permission, she takes a stand in the fray.

Can one truly make a life in the waves?

i wanted to replace the coughs with dolphin sounds but couldn’t figure it out

Definitely sounds like a northern California beach to me! love it

Love your lyrics on this one, every line is evocative and puzzling, and every subsequent line re-contextualizes. Reading the lyrics is a completely different experience, the ukulele refrain adds a very necessary rest for the words to resonate. Magical!

This was rather poignant! Like ilzxc said, has a magical and wistful feel about it.

thanks! haha, I've never lived on the west coast myself, but this does make sense to what this song is based on.

thanks ilzxc! I appreciate you paying attention to my lyrics! I actually played around with adding more lyrics in those breaks, but took them out because it sounded too overwhelming- I'm glad it was a good decision!

thanks! It's interesting that I keep getting the magic/wistful association, people always say I'm kind of witchy, so I guess that makes sense!

getting goosebumps from this. Beautiful track.

Really peaceful & calming sound throughout this track.  I think the coughs did great for dolphins smile

It's very pretty, not sure what it's about and I'm pretty sure you said 4 twice, but it's still hauntingly beautiful.
