Is There Time Still?

By rplktr on January 20, 2024 11:53 am

I welcome all critical feedback.

Wistful mood, thinking about where I wanted to get in life but failed. It feels like the window of opportunity has closed. Maybe if I course-corrected... but is there time still?

···

A traditional synthwave power ballad. 144 BPM 6/8, C-major. Analog Rytm with a mix of TR-707 samples and internal sounds. Guitar recorded with Shreddage Serpent. A pair of Mother-32s provides the stereo arp. Opsix Native jazz bass. Iridium provides synth strings and synth brass.

there is always time for something smile love the vocal filter kinda tone on the guitar and the big synth drums

I'm letting the big 80's-style reverb on those toms and snare carry me away... Something about that arp-y synth coming in around ~1:20 makes me feel warm inside too. heart

Timelessly dreamy smile

Great track! Favorited

Goodness, I sure know that feeling of life turning out how I expected. I don't have any words of wisdom there, still figuring that one out, but I can certainly offer solidarity.

Track is really nice and chill and soothing. You turned those lemons into lemonade. All the synths sound super lush and soft.

I love the idea of loading the RYTM up with 707 samples, excellent choice to complement the synth engines. Speaking of which, it was only just now hearing that rim shot at the end made me realize the Cocteau Twins had used that same sound on my favorite EP of theirs.

Nice guitar playing on this synthwave-ish track. It's more a mix of synthwave and 80s rock (in a good way).

great track, lovely nostalgic feel. all the elements work well but the guitar stands out. Definitely made me think of the 80s, but not synthwave somehow - maybe because I mostly associate with synthwave with a (arguably overused) set of sounds like a driving 1/8 or 1/16 bassline. Also cool that's in 6/8!

This is great, really fits into the depresso chic vibe I like to go for too. You're right, we did sorta go down the same path with our submissions smile

I think it's never too late to take your life down a different path but it's also good to analyze your expectations and think about how realistic they were in the first place. And maybe where you have ended up now is better than you give it credit for... After all, you did make this powerful song smile

I inadvertently thought about C Thomas Howell running in a grey cotton tracksuit under the rain, vibbing to this one. Liked the power ballad vibes. I come from next week comments so won't be entering into the "is the real synthwave" analysis... I just simple feel the urge to hear Foreigner's "I wanna know what love is" after this one smile

About the feeling you describe... the song has certain melancholy to it, yes. Guess sometimes we all feel there was some turn we missed along the way wink

Great tune

Allegedly, there's always time.
Love the atmosphere in this.
