I welcome all critical feedback. Can relicense if you're interested, just ask.

This one's pretty naked. I initially intended to cover my vocals with the usual harmonizations and vocoders, but in the end decided against. Similarly, no huge drums and deep basses this time. Kind of inspired by Cursory's amazing work that doesn't need baroque production to be impactful.

Unrelatedly, for this year every cover art is a photo I took.

I’m not sure I’ve heard your vocals like this before as this is excellent!

I love the no drums here with plenty of room for texture and vocals. There still seems to be a driving sense to it even without drums.

That F#m iii bet part was gorgeous.

"would you pay with your soul for five minutes of fake affection" this line right here is super poignant. Overall, I like the lyrics quite a bit and they feel super relevant to the current state of the world.

Really beautiful song! I thought your vocals sounded really good and I'd love to hear more like it! The guitar passage with the shimmer-verb after "guess not" was super nice.

I love the photooooooo do you know what kind of bird that is? thanks

I listened with a nice little Manhattan in hand and I gotta say, it was the perfect cocktail for "none of that shit's even real" lol.

Your vocals are fantastic, I want them a little louder at times just to strain above the guitar, but they are beautiful and articulate and really carry the mood. All the elements blend nicely here, and that shimmer verb is doing really good work, it feels like a very conscious, well-tuned decision that suits the entirety of the song.

(also jealous of your osmose)

Okay done filling your page with text. This was great. Was wonderful to hear your vocals again, really looking forward to your music this year heart

sometimes less is more, what a powerful song

"the climb is so hard but what else have i got"

heart

Holy shit, the lyrics, the raw vocals, and Gilmourian guitar bridge... the message.

I've never heard something like this from you, and as consistently amazing as your tracks are, I know this is one I'll remember for a long time.

I’m loving the variety between your two tracks so far. Keep it up, fantastic start!

this is beautiful, it's very well written and ur voice is so great !!

guitars are sounding so lovely over the soft pads playing heart

also hello birdy

such a lovely atmosphere with the guitar echoing off and your emotional vocals.  Such powerful lyrics too!  Excellent ballad!

Loved the expressiveness of the vocals, especially as they first come in. Like your execution of this pared-down style. As the song builds, mightve been cool to double them towards the end but I know thats not *minimal*

based.

Painful and beautiful. Your singing is so nice, it's perfect to your song and message. Thank you for sharing it.

Beautiful stuff, very pretty guitars

Lovely. Vocals are great, nice you did the more stripped down production, it worked!

Great vocals and lyrics, fit the minimal/stripped feel of the track, hope to hear more vocals on future weeks.

beautiful! love to hear the glorious vocals with polish(??) accent heart
sounds like it comes from the heart!
nice guitar tone and playing.

WAIT U HAVE EXPRESSIVE E OSMOSE? that is cool! altho the pads here sound nice u gotta use the wiggly keys and modulations at some point! if u want big_smile unless you have an i haven't heard!! in which case sorry! sounds good tho!

The pads and guitars are beautiful together and your lyrics and vocals really hit home. Excellent!

stunning rplktr - really beautiful piece!
this one really hit me in the feels

beautiful song-writing, and the production with such transparent quality made the whole thing turn out so gorgeous overall! heart

Sounds great, very impressive you can get this all accomplished in a week, really nice mix, stripped back but still very full in the headphones, quite lovely!

Yeah, it's not exactly cheap, but once they released the 61-key version I wanted all along, that's also made in Poland where I currently reside, I had no excuse. And it was well worth it.

Hopefully you'll find the third one different enough from those first two then big_smile

The pad-like sounds are actually just a shimmer reverb turned up pretty high, it's just the e-piano and the guitar here.

The birdy doesn't respond as he's pre-occupied with pondering. A bit of a dick move, but who can blame him given [points at everything]

Yeah, I was close to pull the trigger on harmonies, but if I started on that I would have inevitably ended with drums, bass, and all that jazz. The song's over the top as is 😉 But I might revisit it a different time to give it this full-on faux '80s power ballad treatment.

Thank you, I appreciate it. And let me use this opportunity to say that I wish you allowed comments on your stuff as it's high quality every week. Of course it's up to you, but all I'm saying is you're missing out on compliments. Like your W3 solo piano piece is interesting both compositionally and in how you well you performed it. I briefly ran a website some 16 years back with daily piano improvisations and your piece reminded me of that time in my life.

Given this much encouragement, it's likely.

As I told Eve above, the pad sound is actually a shimmer reverb feeding on the e-piano. I love that stuff, it's in the Brian Eno/Harold Budd tradition.

Some weeks it comes to you naturally, other weeks you fight for your life to squeeze anything out. But the weekly cadence at least reminds me to try and see which one of those am I gonna get this time around. And because I have a life that doesn't revolve around music, there's quite a few "rails" that I had to put in place to make composing and recording as streamlined as possible, not to waste time every week setting things up. That setup is in large part what allows me to get in the zone quickly. Highly recommended.

AND I FAIL AGAIN AT GIFS HERE, WHAT GIVES

This is a very pretty track. I like the production which is minimal in a good way, leaving a lot of space and the voice to shine.

Duuuude this is amazing, the two guitar parts are so perfectly complementary. Vocals and lyrics are both killer. Feels crazy to be mentioned as even a bit of an inspiration here haha, I'm over here taking notes.

your gif:

OMG YOUR VOICE IS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG.  the naked production makes it more emotional.  the photo is perfect, a bird, who can fly anywhere, just like, "what's the point though?"

your best song ever?  but i'm about to listen to 20 more of your songs so who knows.

"and i know i will never reach the crowded top
and i know it sometimes makes me want to fucking give up and stop
the climb is so hard but what else have i got"

put this on my tombstone and bury me with my weeklybeats, y'all
