Waltz of the Ages

By rdomain on August 11, 2018 5:10 am

An opening theme to a film which was then rejected for another piece.  Although not my usual film scoring style, I enjoyed the challenge of creating an authentic waltz for a film set back in the 50s.  Surprisingly difficult and I spent many hours creating this.  From creating an earlier piano recording sound to playing and writing realistic parts within such an exposed and traditional 'ensemble'.

Well, you nailed it, even to the needle drop. With added elements of uncertainty in the background. Faved.

I'm not familiar with 50's waltzes, but don't they, too, not also have percussion?

Very pretty though.

Thanks Jim! Glad you dug it and thanks for the regular comments.  Always appreciated.   I'll get round to some WB listening directly.  Too busy the last month or so.  hmm

Thanks and no I wouldn't say that.  The main feature of the waltz is primarily the strong 3/4 time signature feel.

Maybe it's a 50's thing then, because the waltz in general has a very specific drum pattern that makes it the waltz it is.
