The Edge of a Broken Sky

By rdomain on July 12, 2022 7:42 am

Another long form improvised piece this time using the Strega and 0-Ctrl by Make Noise and then into the Plumbutter and Cocoquantus by Ciat Lonbarde.  No edits.

Love those glitchy bit-crush-sounding tones, especially as the track closes, feels like falling back onto a bed of soft yet crunchy things(is that the ultrasound on the plumbutter? reminds me of it)
I really love the title, too: describes the feel perfectly heart

the sound is awesome. I dig the corners and edges the track leads to.

Really cool soundscape with a lot of neat little details.  It's impressive that there are no edits.  I can't seem to strum a basic guitar chord without messing up half the time.  smile

Cheers!  It's actually the Cocoquantus creating those crunchy tones at the end.  I was using the PB for some subtle rhythms but also processing the Strega through it's filters etc.

Thank you!  It's fun exploring all the edges and corners!  smile

Haha...  I'm a fan of one take, even it's not absolutely perfect as it adds this human element and because I perform quite a bit, I like to record like that a lot of the times too.  It's a fun way to go.   big_smile

Excellent title first off and love how it sounds like an other-worldly transmission.  Like an alien computer dialing in a message.  The low growly machine sound makes it sound so organic too.  I think plumbutter has to be my favorite gear name ever lol.

Cheers man and I have to agree...  Plumbutter is my fave too!  Haha

Glitch and static = heart
I also love when it dissipates and its sounds like we dive deep under the ocean, with some oxygen bubbles floating up.

Agree with others, this title is brilliant, like how the rate on the delay for the bleeps and blips speeds up and down and the subtle clicks and pops.

atmosphere of disconnectedness from a dense but static world

like looking out from the top of a derelict highrise in arid daylight
