Least Path of Resistance

Welcome back everyone!

Here's a one take recording on the modular synth.  Some mixing in post and I also added a track of 'strings' via Slate&Ash Cycles.

genuinely some of the most sinister sounding music i've heard in a minute very well done

Man I love this. The percussion is just wild and so cool

Happy new year 2026! That staccato beat is sick, especially against the drones of the modular. There is one layer especialyl that sounds like a low sinister voice humming, making it a haunting track. I like how you end the track with only the drones, moving the focus from the rhythmic element and expanding the landscape.

I am looking forward to listening to more of your tracks this year!

Love the micro percussion sound design. I was never into the Mutant drums but maybe I need to reconsider that. Great first patch.

Wow, what a great piece!

Hello and happy new year! Always loved your impeccable production (ear candy? No, darker… Ear licorice!) and very stoked to see you back for another year!

I'm SUPER impressed you were able to bend Elements to you will so effectively... great module, but... I find it to be... obstinate... but man, you really pulled some awesome movement from it, that both sounds musically intentional and interestingly unpredictable.  Very cool track.

i'm glad to have new rdomain worlds to explore this year
hope you are doing well!  heart

Hiya everyone!  Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and comment.  I'm looking forward to listening to hearing what you come up with this year.  About to do that right now.  smile

Thanks!  The percussion was a focus point of the patch.  Much tweaking and sculpting.  I love creating glitchy beats without using glitch fx processors.  Much more organic and rewarding.

Thanks mate and likewise!  Glad you enjoyed the layers and direction of the track.  Appreciated!

Thank you!  I do love creating all the beats from scratch including the sounds.  It can be time consuming but it's such a flow state to get into and the sonic reward is always worthwhile.  The Mutant drums are great really!  My fave analog drum voice and I love how wild the kick can be.  I've got it pretty reigned in here except for some occasion sporadic moments.  The hats and snare are in another case which are amazing for noise based music at the extreme settings. Easily reigned in for classic tones too.

Thanks and likewise mate!  Ear liquorice...  I like. Haha.  It reminds me of a Japanese artist I've been working with for over 5 years now; she calls me the 'sound magician'.

Best of luck with the forthcoming tracks this year!

Thanks!  Yes, I'd highly recommend feeding it CV as that's when it really comes to life.  It's a great module and capable of many tones really.

Thank you and likewise!  Sounds like we're both many with lots of projects as I could relate to the overwhelming element if not careful.  Best of luck with the new year.
