this is a mashup of license's tracks:
cake batter frosting
and
desert gem
with ilzxc's tracks:
presets
and
whirl

..along with a track of mine which i made very quickly after getting me a CME WIDI Bud Pro this week and experimenting with it... (that thing let my iPad and norns speak Wifi MIDI to each other, i made ‘algorithmic’ music with the iMS-20 iPad app(something I couldn’t do with the regular in-app sequencer)..and i didn't have to get off the couch to plug wires in), what an age we live in!
..but since this algorithmic iMS-20 track didn't sound like it had much 'body', 'direction' or even a 'soul' lol , i decided to try out license and ilzxc's music to it hoping i wouldn't have to pitch-shift much(i had asked them a month or so ago if i could grab some stems from these specific tracks as i wanted do a 'mashup' style remix of multiple artists together for one of my final tracks before end of year here), and this turned out magical. everything edited, mixed, and mastered in Logic for the final(..also used my secret Max/MSP-FFT sauce, which makes it a different kind of mashup, one where i not only cut/mash into each other by time, but also by spectrum too).

been struggling with motivation past few weeks(i recently realized the downstairs neighbor has an alarm starting at 4am then thereafter continuously snoozed... i'm losing sleep... today i sit at my window watching.. watching the people, every being is being so busy, their suits are constrictive, their blood cannot flow, they try to conform us into a standardized hive of bank-accounts to form up like a nice thick uniform slurry-like mass fit for capitalistic levels of re/consumption, you are what you eat after all, so i am a bank account, and you are a bank account... sorry, wat? ..no.. i'm not going crazy... i just.. can't be... YOU ARE THE ONE who is going crazy! mad where was i? oh right...) so it’s quite a blessing that i was able to get this goal for weeklybeats done here at the last minute smile *innocent-angel-emoji*
this track is literally a miracle for me - their music: the miracle(that enchanted my creativity) heart

thought i'd share the lua script(though i'm still quite amateur) with the algorithmic weirdness i got up to on norns with MIDI(but aside from a norns, it requires some kind of MIDI-controlled synth with 7 voices/channels - channel 1, 6, and 7 being synths, channel 5 being bass, channel 2 the bass drum, channel 3 the snare, and channel 4 the hihats).

› here's the script for my iMS20 part

Thanks to ilzxc and license for letting me mash their music heart

I'm waiting for someone to pop in and do a remix of this song so we can keep going deeper down this rabbit hole tongue.

wtf it's license/ilzxc remix day?!
so wild!! omg that glowy bit at 1:00 is GLORIOUS
1:45 too LIQUID PIXELS

that staccato stuff at 3:00 is SO FUNKY
got my neck wiggling in ways I'm gonna injure myself
love the metronome in there lolol

SICK

thank you for this. I love it. faved. such a wonderful treatment. you pulled so much stuff out of these tracks I didn't know was in there. so fun and wild and alive.

Raja, holy shiiiittttt, this is glorious, a mashup to end all mashups, like whaaat.

Really cool mashup.  Crazy sounds and textures attacking from all sides.  And I feel you on the bank account observation.  I hate that feeling of being a cog in the machine.  But I guess we all are for better or worse.

Haha, that’d be killer(i do feel like the ending section was the icing on the cake, and maybe it should’ve been extended big_smile). Thank You smile

Ha, Thank You! (ya, metronome was interesting: it sounds natural in ilzxc’s original, but it was taking away from some of the other sounds here, so i tweaked the rhythm.. then it comes out weirdly in the FFT processing too… i’m glad it comes across with just that right bit of accent… i need to use metronome sounds in my tracks more big_smile)
It was my honor and pleasure, thanks again for the inspiration! heart

Thank You, too! Your music saved my week here and helps me keep going more than ever heart

Thank You! (My neighbors are a bit more dog-eat-dog than i’ve ever experienced before(2 of em on either side, i’m sandwiched by egocentric wankers!), these days the lack of sleep makes me less tolerant of how weirdly materialistic and ‘plugged-in’ they are… i appreciate your empathy smile )

Sorry for a one-liner earlier -- was driving and had to type it up quick at a stop-light. Listened to it a few times on the road, just to hear the method to the madness. big_smile

The 2:40 desert gem / presets lead mashup is by far my favorite part, absolutely insane how well those work together, and that drunk ass bass that was played "one take" --> license rolling wumpwumpwumps is my most "WTF" moment.

Funny thing about the metronome -- I couldn't get Live to record the damn metronome, and my elektron boxes were "far away" (across the room) when I was making presets w/ just a keyboard and a laptop, so I ended up sampling a YouTube video because that was the fastest way to get Ableton Live metronome into a track... Possibly the most absurd way of getting a sound you already have by downloading a lossy ass version from a video sharing website... Happy to hear metronome clicking all adventurously. My kinda metronome. heart

Love this, probably is mayhem to everyone else, but as musician-to-musician type gift to someone intimately familiar with source content, this is insane. Makes me question the depths to which music-reimagined-for-other-musicaisn type remixes can go. Thanks, taking some notes, reprogramming the brain! heart

this is an epic moment, when the musical forces of the 3 most magical weeklybeat personalities unite their power in one song. awesome stuff. thanx

mashup of mashups, 2:40 hits the right spots

Enjoyed this, lots of inspiring creations happening in this mashup.

So many wonderful and delicious surprises here! I absolutely love that segment around 1:46. The soft background is so perfect for those crunchy clusters. @ 2:32 that synth intro to that drop @ 2:40- damn. I only wished the beat held to that phat lofi for just a while there... let the rest go wild but let the beat drop and ride! smile

Very intense track! I was not ready for that. Super interesting.

bonkers monster mash!

Awesome sounds and textures throughout really enjoyed the warpy bit around 2:40ish.  Lots of interesting swing and movement ooooh yais!  Nice work!

Wow, this is epic, love all the directions it goes in and new sounds that keep unfolding, like that beat that comes in at 2:00 and then the full on squarepusherish beat mangling that starts at 2:40.

unforeseeable goodness

I could gladly attempt to. But do I have permission, Raja, because i see you licensed with Copyright All rights reserved?

You have my permission for sure! I only marked it Copyright All Right Reserved because that was the license that was chosen for the majority of the original tracks by @license and @ilzxc(so hopefully they see this and can speak up if otherwise, but i'm assuming they'd be cool with it since this is a mashup of those AllRightsReserved tracks too big_smile).
I'd be honored! heart

I understand. Then this will be my project for week 50. I’ll write something like “As suggested by ViridianLoom, here’s a remix of RajaTheResidentAlien’s track “LicensedTollzxc” (available from: https://weeklybeats.com/rajatheresidentalien/music/license2ilxc-2). I’ve sampled the track with written permission from RajaTheResidentAlien (cf. the comment section of  https://weeklybeats.com/rajatheresidentalien/music/license2ilxc-2). For the origin story of the track, see the description of the original.” and also use Copyright All rights reserved to not let the cats even further out of the bags, so to say. Anyway, it will metamorphize to something quite unrecognizable.  I’ll keep an eye at the comment section here, and opt for something else if I see a stop sign.

Thank you – the it's a go. On it.

Nice! What a great idea, with great results! This is super mad fun. Many good juicy bits to nosh on! Agree with comments above about the hotness of 2:40. I think I hear your bits from the iMS-20 - sounds great. That app looks awesome actually, but using your norns to sequence for algorythmic-ness is super sweet!

An enjoyable scattery journey of sounds and ideas.  The track from 2.40 onwards  is great!

Super enjoyable to listen to, great collaboration. Always moving, never quite settling.
