teleropa C60

By Q-Rosh on October 6, 2024 4:50 pm

Thank you all for the nice comments last week. concerning the loss of my data. This is a recreation of what song could have been like. The only medium that survived, was the cassette I did in the beginning onto a teleropa C60 (the cheapest FeCr you could buy as a cassette 50 years ago) and a very low-quality Sony TCM-393 "cassette-corder". I recorded my piano directly, with the recorder on the top (first without and then with a metronome). I was amazed about the noize this technique made and found it worthy to do a song with it.
I could add some fresh additional recordings I did this week. for example, I took part at two very enjoyable ceremonys, a "gong-bath" and a "monochord treatment" in 432Hz, which my good friend Charly and son performed. very good. thanks.
The saxophone, clarinet, Rhodes, fretless bass and the drumming are mostly freestyle and without deeper knowledge of playing seriously.

I always love the sound of a fretless bass. This one is singing very warmly. The free floating style of this track is relaxing, it’s a polite no to the usual constraints of a track on the grid. It lives and breathes, and sometimes I catch the bass yawning like a satisfied cat close to the chimney. There is this high radar like sound, I am not sure what this is, and a plic ploc water like sound and other sounds that I cannot really identify but they blend marvelously in a technicolor dream.

The opening feels like dawn on the horizon.  The clarinet, the shakers, the piano and drums all getting ready for the start of a new day.  I like how all the different instruments make their appearances without shouting their entrance.  The fretless sneaks it's hopeful lines into the mix so nice. I hear nothing cheap from this recording just pure vibes and energy to recharge after everything you went through the previous week.  Oh wow yes the metronome piano duet was a nice effect too.  This is quite the journey as each section transitions without you realizing immediately.  The deeper knowledge is found in this track heart

The piano really does sound great, so warm and nostalgic feeling. Love the panning of the Rhodes back and forth. Plenty of surprises throughout this track, the bass announcing itself around 3:10 was awesome. Such a crazy but also calm/soothing textural journey you've made smile

Certain parts give me some Spirit of Eden vibes (never a bad thing), but it also flows into some unique and interesting places.  For not knowing how to "seriously" play some of the instruments, you still have an intuitive sense how to use their sonic textures to pleasing effect.

I really enjoy the free flowing style of your music, this sounds like you were playing with a band and all the members were in sync.  Oh yes that bass is something special that comes in at 3:10 and the addition of the metronome is a nice touch.

This very much sounds like what I would picture a end-of-year gathering would be for a group of serious touring musicians who had a super strict set list (like an orchestra or something). During this gathering, they're just hanging out, super chill, messing around with their instruments lightly and very comfortably.
This is awesome, I REALLY like the vibe here.

Enjoyed the journey through this sound landscape, how it evolved and changed shape overtime. Felt like a gentle but also dynamic ride with some psychedelic views

my Friend, i know i've not had the pleasure to meet you irl... but i feel like i've gotten to know you through your music this year. listening to this in headphones reminded me of the ability for music to transport us. it was calming and inspiring to spend some time with you and your friends (both human, and your instrument friends).
beautifully rendered, immersive and kinetic.
thank you

I love this, I lost myself listening to it, I have actually written a reply to a message that I was postponing because I couldn't find the right words, I need a full teleropa c60 for work and peace of mind I think

wow! lovely. cool to see this father son effort. sounds great. so textured.

this is beautiful! i really missed listening to your music, i will go back and catch up on what i've missed. The drums are an unsung hero in this song, really nice tones and they respond and emphasize without pushing us into a grid. really nice mix on this, as always your process really shows in the overall tones and vibe. nice track!

well i enjoyed this teleropa c60 tape bath - so beautiful!

perfect mood for this atumnal morning

Love the organic feel of this track, the clarinet really brings back memories. I was a clarinet and baritone sax player back in the day.
