new monitors

By Q-Rosh on September 1, 2024 8:32 am

this track was recorded in April 2023, in the livingroom with cello, harmoniumorgan and the guitar, very analog, using a microphone. Paula was around and started to complain, getting no attention. On saturday I wanted to add the clarinet, flute and drums, but made a big mistake, because I forgot to arm the main microphones and only recorded the reverbchannel of the AKG BX20. It was a too much effort to record it again, so I worked with the material I had so far. The drums did not work, so I just used a single loop.
The track is long, but I had fun letting everything develop and enjoyed the lucky moments.
The clarinet here is a different one. I am using a french model now, that was given to me by the nice guy, who teached and supported me in the last weeks with my plan to learn windinstruments.
The mix was done 100% with the new dynaudio monitorspeakers I have chosen, after giving the tannoys back.
I am very satisfied, because they are neutral and precise and after hours of listening, the ears are still fresh and do not get tired at all.

New monitors, same great Q-Rosh. big_smile Wonderful track!

Ah what a beautiful atmosphere you build there. it is quiet and peaceful, with accents of the different instruments, in a subtle way. And the dog decides to join in the fun. I like how the whole mix is light. Perfect for my Monday morning, as I drink a coffee.

The rhythm section gives it a jazzy flavor.  I also get some Talk Talk vibes at times.  Overall it sounds great and is a warm sonic space to visit.  Love the dog guest appearance as well.

I'm picking up those Talk Talk vibes too, really wonderful track. smile

lol the bark!

Delicious. Love the organs and and guitar. And I'm absolutely all here for random dog barks!

incredible vibe here, Q-Rosh. i could swim around in this track all day

Great track, man!  Reminds me of Monde UFO.  I have a hard time writing "chill" songs, so I'm always impressed by something that is in no hurry to get to the end.  Loved this one.

Hits me right in the feels!

So very airy and light….beautiful!

Love how free-flowing this feels, every instrument finds its place and adds some texture/flavor. I really like your mention of the "lucky moments," such a nice way to think about music that's a bit more improvised and allowed to breathe a bit.

Love the mellow organ feels throughout.  The guitar at 1:30ish sounds extra nice over the organ too.  A laid back feel that makes me feel like I'm sitting in a dark club enjoying a drink during a live performance. Also really hearing the tremly echoes/delay on the guitar towards the end. Thank you for this musical escape smile

Wow, the way this builds caught me off-guard. There's glimpses of old Pink Floyd there, of Archive, of Porcupine Tree, No-Man, and Radiohead. Jazz-adjacent but not self-indulgent. But it's steadily its own thing and it drives in this subtle but steady way. Even the dog bark fits it just perfectly.

Such a great immersive track. Kudos!

sounds indeed very nice, congrats on the new monitors and all the listening without fatigue!

This is beautiful! I started to think about Twin Peaks for some reason. Now I have to rewatch it smile
