KAOSS IMPROV

By PeterM on October 27, 2024 11:28 pm

I spent some time messing around with this OG Kaossilator and this is the result! I don't know what to say really. I played a bunch of parts into the M8's sampler and then tried to massage them into something coherent. The Kaossilator is kinda tough to control and play precisely ... which is actually very fun ... but it puts me out of my usual comfort zone. Anyway, at this point in the year, I'm happy to have an idea to run with and challenge myself in an interesting way.

I really like the trumpet patch on the the Kaossilator so I knew I wanted to have that be a prominent part of the song. And after trying to play an actually melody a few times, I just decided to embrace the chaos and do some free form improv stuff. The middle section is a bit of a homage to Dixieland style with multiple instruments improvising at the same time. It's a bit busy, but I'm OK with it.

Anyway, single digit weeks left! I'm hoping to have a bit more time in November for spending on music making. The past few weeks have been tough for me to make time for this, but I'm glad that the relentless deadline forced something out of me.

Looking forward to listing to everyone again this week! There is so much great music going on around here with you all! wink

This is a very fun result indeed. cool call n response with different patches, I don't know why but it gives me 80's Inspector Gadget vibes.

That middle section is WIIIILD my favorite part!!!! Hahahahaha. Damn, this is really really friggin groovy. The overall vibe is so dang chill, I just want to live here for a few days, hahahahaha...
Fantastic work, as always! And wishing you get more music making time in the coming weeks!

Seriously, that call and response is great! More jazzy electronic goodness, and I’m here for it. Pulling this all off on a Kaossilator is pretty cool!

Also funny that this random piece of gear has shown up twice this week - MRDRCAT used one as well. Bring the chaos!

Thanks! Yeah, I was struggling to control the Kaoss ... so improv just kinda happened. And that middle part was where the Kaoss really shone through! wink

Thanks! The Kaossilator earns its name ... very chaotic indeed. The call and response was about as much order as I could squeeze out of it! wink
