Something something "tune"

Is there a name for fake chiptune? Fauxtune? Cheattune?

I'm continuing my love affair with my dumb Hydrasynth noise patch and decided to see what the T-8 would sound like when run through the Red Panda Bitmap. I like the result of the two together.

I also can't stop throwing this 1010 Tangerine piano sample in everything. So here we are. A fun little crunchy drum loop turned into cheesy lounge chiptune. Fauxtune. Whatever. I don't have a GBA, get off my back.

You're...welcome? I'm sorry? Pick one, I understand both perspectives.

Stuff:
Drums: Roland Aira T-8 through Red Panda Bitmap
Piano: 1010 Music Tangerine
Bass/noise pad: Hydrasynth
Additional random glitching: Hologram Microcosm (Interrupt)
EOC: Endorphines Golden Master
Mixed/Recorded on my iphone in AUM

A toe-tapping good time! Great crunchy drum textures that the pure piano blonks over the top of. That Hydrasynth patch glues it all together nicely. Glitchy grindy fun heart

there is a name: fakebit!  (a play off of "8-bit") smile

cheattune is pretty clever though!

I am a fakebit LOVER
oh HELL YES to the Microcosm, I'm only starting to unlock the powers of mine.  I used mine in this week's track on guitar.

too short, but this was fun!

I welcome everything even vaguely chip-related! And this definitely feels more than just vaguely chip related, so no need to apologize, hahahahah... The piano works super nicely here, I'm a real sucker for crunchy chippy sounds paired with a nice piano. Verh nicely done!

Fakebit is a bit of a contested topic, after all, what is chiptune exactly? A purist gatekeeper would say it has to be on physical hardware to count, but I think as long as it sounds like chiptune, it's chiptune.
So really, it's just chiptune.
