Usurper

Hello there, folks! I'm uploading this one a bit early because I just happened to finish it mid week. First of all, apologies for not commenting on almost any of y'all's songs this past round. Work, life, yadda yadda... You know the drill, you've been through it yourself a couple of times at least, I'm sure.
As a heads up, you'll want to turn the volume down for this one. It opens pretty loud and harsh. My apologies, I didn't notice until it was too late =/
Anyways, this week I ended up making another simple little chiptune marching song. However, I feel like this one has a special bite to it. The image I get with this song is of an evil, ruthless, power hungry character's inevitable rise to power as they usurp the throne of a vast and mighty empire. When the song is in full swing (around 1:00), I can SEE this character's coronation ceremony, an obviously evil grin appearing on their face as some official swears them in, the full pomp of the empire doing it's ritualistic song and dance and it's impossibly strong military becoming ready to bend to its new ruler's every whim. Meanwhile, the empire's bureaucrats and high court members simply smile and clap, all of them sycophantic ghouls who are more worried about potentially losing their post instead of the negative consequences of this power grab on the well being of the empire and its people.
By the way, I swear I did not mean to make this song as a political statement about the recent USA elections! I know it sounds like I'm joking, but I'm dead serious! Even though the image I explain above sounds like a hyperbolic fantasy-setting caricature of our recent real world events, I never actually intended to do so. I think the more march-y vibes started coming through, and I found a few combinations of sounds that felt particularly militaristic, ruthless and just plain evil. This is when the whole "coronation of an evil, power hungry usurper" image came to me: AFTER I had finished the song!
Anyways, I wasn't really sure how to progress the song beyond that main loop, so I just slowly faded out after a couple of repetitions. I just couldn't bring myself to fiddle with it because I just REALLY liked how it sounded and didn't want to add new sections or change anything.
This song was fully made on the M8 using nothing other than it's WAVSYNTH engine and only five tracks! The M8 tells me I spent about 1h30min making this one.
Also, thank you so much for all of your kind comments on my last submission. Y'all seriously rock my socks.
Super looking forward to listening to what y'all have been up to!!!!
Cheers!!!!
