Anthony's Got Good News and Disappointing News

By PantherMountain on January 7, 2024 9:20 pm

Hey Weekly Beats!  Happy 2024!

Good News First.
-Lowbrow is finally finishing our new record this year.  I've been posting demos for these songs since 2020.
-While we do that, I started a new band in Northern California.  This was born out of Week 4's song in 2022.
-I got a grip of new gear (details at the end)
-I'm getting married in October!  I'm also writing all the music for the ceremony.
-We got another puppy who is a chaos gremlin.

Disappointing News:
With all this going on, as well as being back to five days a week at work, I won't be able to contribute weekly this year sad  I'll pop in every now and then with new demos when I got the time, but between those, I'll just be a spectator.  Can't wait to hear what you come up with this year

This Song:
Been working on not trying to hard with these songs.  Find a verse, find a chorus, and build around them.  We have two done w/ Vocals, and hoping to get an EP out this summer.  This song is a new one for the new band.  Going for a stripped back melodic hardcore thing.  Songs that are fun to play, aggressive, but have big hooky choruses.  Also no guitar solos (which for me is wild)

Gear Used:
Guitars - Dunable Cyclops
Bass - Dingwall AB4, Fender Bass VI
Amps - Revv Generator MKIII, Darkglass Microtubes 500 V2
Pedals - Frost Giant Osiris Overdrive, Digitech Freqout
Outboard Gear - Focusrite ISA Two, Distressor EL8
Drums - Superior Drummer 3

Solid!!!

Love your guitars, mix is super clean too. Everything at the correct space. Good luck with marriage and new bands!

This is awesome! Track, mix, writing, and everything is ace.

Sad that we won't get to hear one of these sick jams every week, but I'm going to be looking forward to hearing them when they do drop. big_smile

Great recording quality, the mix is really great.  Drums are so tight.  But where's the vocals?  Any plans to add lyrics, or you like it as is?  Tight music dude, keep it up.

Hey, glad to see you here again, even if it's only going to be sporadic. I always find the quality of your work inspiring, and it pushes me to try to be better. This is no different. Sounds really killer. Even though no guitar solo, the licks and fills are super tasty. It sounds like they just fly off your fingers effortlessly. Great job!

Killer track! Didn't expect to find something like it here. Also play in thrash-punk band so I can appreciate it!

Agreed that the mix sounds great and super clean. Blistering pace, chord changes that hold your interest — really good stuff. Look forward to anything more you post!

Thank you!  Hoping to get some more stuff posted this year, especially my wedding originals

I'll sneak em out as often as I can.  Got my studio back, so it's been nice to have a place to jam

I got a guy for vocals!  These are just demos for a future project, so I just post them as I write them.  Hopefully I can post one of the ones with vocals soon

Thanks dude!  Been trying to write stuff that is just fun to play.  Stoked to hear more of your stuff this year!

Haha, I've always been terrible at naming tracks.  Thanks for listening. Hope I can post more of this project this year

Dang this is great shit. All good news on your front, congrats and good luck! Like that at 1:38 with the dirtied harmonics, classic fx. Look forward to hear more from you when you do drop it.

Oh also, the last jump riff. Yeah. BOUNCE!

Thanks dude!  Was hoping you'd check this one out.  I have another one I'm not sure if I'll get to this week, but it is fast and it is angry, so I'm excited to get that one recorded

Hell yeah, this is sweet.  I am counting the harmonic chops as a solo.  Great recording quality on this, especially if you guys did this on your own.  Everythings super tight and mixed well.

Congrats on the engagement too.

Congratulations in advance, coming back, but also the wedding for sure.
This goes hard and I love it.

This is just me in my garage and Superior Drummer 3.  Very excited to get some real drums on these songs and get our singer writing some vocals.  Thanks for checking it out, and I'm very excited to release these songs.

Thanks as always.  Been a lot of fun writing these heavier songs.  It's been a long time coming
