My Truck's Gone and Left Me

The joke that made the rounds a while ago:

"With the rise of self-driving vehicles, it's only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy's truck leaves him too."

That's not a joke, that's a challenge...so my wife and I wrote it. Dusted off the harmonica for this one!

Acoustic & electric guitar
Harmonica
Banjo
Mandolin
Fretless bass
Logic drummer

Used to be you'd worry 'bout
Your dog would run away
Or if your girl was true to you
Or if your job would pay
But now I've got more worries than
I ever knew by far
Because my truck aint just a truck
It's now a self driving car

Now my truck is smarter
Than al the schools round here
I'd have a drink to console myself
But my truck done stole my beer
It took my dog and it ran away
And hit the open road
I don't know what I'm gonna do
My truck done stole my load

My truck's gone and left me

It's got Bluetooth and GPS
It knows where I call home
Don't need no map or highway sign
So it's gone off to roam
I hope it will return to me
'Fore the battery dies someday
I just can't bear to think about
How my truck has gone away

Now my truck is smarter
Than al the schools round here
I'd have a drink to console myself
But my truck done stole my beer
It took my dog and it ran away
And hit the open road
I don't know what I'm gonna do
My truck done stole my load

My truck's gone and left me

Greta song, and you answered my question and I've learned more about banjo! I'm gonna have to listen to more banjo, it sounds great. No worries about the deleted comment I hit the wrong buttons all the time lol

Hah, thanks again! I felt pretty bad about it.

After thinking about your comment, I’m wondering if it’s the mandolin. That’s the higher “chop……chop..chop” rhythm. When I went to listen again, it really does sound like high piano chords!

I'm only sorry I can't applaud you guys in person. This is country & comedy gold, and you nailed the sound.

Thanks! There were a lot of giggles while we were writing this one, it was a lot of fun.

Also, for the record, we’re playing Sunset Point Winery on n the beginning of June 😁

Please give me a heads up when you have the final date. Or post it on FB or something - I usually see your posts.
