Out Of My Mind

I love the part in the video where you turn to look directly in the camera and our focus feels like it shifts to the TV. Very cool effect smile. And of course, I love the song.
Out of curiosity, how early in the week are you writing these songs and when do you record the video? I feel like I'm always waiting until the last hour to render my song but you probably have to be at least a day ahead schedule to get a video done too.
btw, I live in a desert, so the snowy landscape is kind of beautiful scenery smile

In My Mind's one of my favorites, so it was really neat to hear the sequel! Awesome song and video. big_smile

Again, I love the background explanation, and the whole art piece is fantastic. The deep theme (ego and self, jungian psychology!), the catchy music, how the video plays with the theme in an elegant fashion, this is a unified art piece. For some reason, the section at 3:40 with the TV image jumping around was mesmerizing. Also, good job on scarf choice and coordination! Keep it up, these songs are always a positive piece to start the week on the right foot.

Another banger.  I really like the melody the synth line is playing and another impressive and creative video.  It looks cold there!

Awesome track, once again! The camera/tv setup is a great idea- I’ll always have a soft spot for crts, and I really love when they are centered like u do a few times in this

Really great track, and the video is an awesome complement to it. Adding in the extra camera is a nice effect that helps accentuate they lyrics, too. Really enjoyed this!

That progressions is so so nice. Always look forward to listening to your tracks every week smile

You went deep with this one. A you-tube on youtube! I am very much not a scarf person, but the tune is amazing.

Very cool, there is an Oasis vibe on this one. I really like the drum loop. And damn the video clip production is really solid as well. I hope you'll have enough gaz to cook 48 more of those as this is really entertaining and fun to watch-listen to.

Thanks Mr. OrangeDrink.

yeah!!  Really love the guitar on this and the way it drop backs to just guitar and drums and then the bass comes back.  Great solo on the keyz too.

When this started I was like...is this The Headmaster Ritual?!!!

I really like this whole deal. The chord progressions in the intro feel unexpected, I love your background oooos and the keyboard bits especially. And the video is quite fun! Love the night vision camera idea.

Love the song. Mind sharing your signal chain + processing for vocals? I like the slight distortion you're getting which ups the intensity. I'm always looking for ways to make my voice sound a little more immediate and intense when I sing, and you accomplish that very well. Like others here, I was also mesmerized by the TV tricks you used in the video. Great job, see you next week!

catchy

The music reminds me a little bit of 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins. The bass works nicely with the chords and cool to see some OP-1 action. smile

Wow, another impressive submission.  Awesome job on the video and editing, already seeing a ton of improvement there.  The song itself is super catchy and very well recorded/mixed.  The instrumentation is so simple but doesn't sound lacking at all.  This is the type of thing I'm always trying to do but can never help adding and adding to it until it sounds too cluttered, so congrats on making this work so well.  Also a big fan of the low pass transition at 4:15.  Very simple but effective.

Cool old TV and camcorder aesthetic.  The last scene where you, Frank, and the dog are walking away and you're carrying the chair hits me as being so eclectic that it puts a positive spin on being out of your mind. Channeling everything into such a positive direction, as an artist.  It's the perfect Orange Drink moment.

So good!

incredibly, how well the OP-1 fits into this song. Very rocking and intensive through the whole song. supergood.

As always I fucking love your vocals. The vibe of your songs just makes me happy.

I love the creative ideas on your videos, it's so fun to watch this every week! And always great music!

Alright, stop it now. This gave me Nine Inch Nails vibes if Trent Reznor was 28% less goth when he wrote The Fragile. Agh. I need to up my game to keep up with you! Track, the mix, the vocals, the sounds, the GUITAR, the VIDEO, mint.

The guitars sound excellent.  Very upbeat but also so soothing.  The OP-1 melody was super catchy and had me bobbin along.  I second more NIN vibes this week.  The whole pace and sound of these tracks have been awesome.  Also I enjoy the pre-game interview with the synthstar of the week.  smile

Nothing short of insanity, really

Fantastic track!

Particularly dig the strobing video section, and the atmospheric ending with slow-mo shots (hey doggo!). Nice work all around, the OP-1 looks like a powerful and fun little instrument.

Ooo, some of these chords changes are very spicy indeed. Also swaying a bit to this lovely relaxed energy. A pleasure to listen to sir o7

That op-1 sounds so good, as always great lyrics and vocals, they stick in your head, the effect when you stare at the camera on the first chorus is just brilliant, so effective.

Glad it worked for you!  My ideal schedule is: Tuesday: Write Song / Thursday: Finish Song Recording, Start Video / Friday: Mix & Master Song, Finish Video, Upload.  I’m actually trying to focus on finishing by Friday so I have a “free weekend” to get more rest to prepare for the next project.

I bet I’d love to see the desert scenery heart

Wow, this is another deep comment from you.  Seriously this is why I love you, you really get into the super deep details and I feel SEEN.  Amazing to get recognized as having made a “unified art piece”

love Oasis forever so thank you.  I can do 48 more, but I won’t promise they’ll be interesting smile

thank you so much cTrix!  I hoped that the bass drop out allows people to enjoy the drums and guitar more, but then “re-appreciate” the bass when it comes back. heart

HUGE compliment, I think about that song all the time and when I first heard it, I listened to it on repeat for a few hours - so that song is definitely in my blood by now

Swizzle!  Huge compliment if someone says “unexpected chord progression” - that’s my life goals.  TY

oops!  I took a screenshot, but don’t have it on this computer.  I’ll get it to you.  yes, I did use an overdrive for the vocals.  I had a bad problem where I distorted frequencies I didn’t want and then had to cut them out later with EQ, but I could have spent more time distorting the right stuff.

hell yeah, that song was a big deal for me, hearing a big time rock band bring in a drum machine, as opposed to mostly hearing drum machines in electronic/rap music exclusively or in less popular music.

you can thank the time constraint of one week for the simple instrumentation!  I was actually going to do acoustic drums, but they were disassembled because we had to move them to do our dance routine from the previous week!  hilarious how that actually affected the song writing, right?

Thanks!  I knew you’d be into it smile  WOW huge compliment on that last show - it was kind of an accident to do that, and then it hit me - this is literally the meaning of the song.  sharing it with you and getting that feedback, to help me learn more about myself, is REALLY what this is all about.

Thank you!  That (strobing) was a happy accident and I feel like something about it is really spooky.

heart Josh made me wait to watch/listen to your song this week so he could watch with me - new traditions are fun

love the feel this one. really dig the drums and guitar. the melody is the tits as well, almost reminds me of sweet trip. kinda makes me wanna try something like this.

OMG... this could totally be a Lush song -- could you imagine Miki Berenyi singing this?
So good, sir. Kudos.

wow, way too kind with that comparison, thank you!

I love the progression and the melody and the lyrics! This is a great song!

And you're making such cool and diverse videos! Someday the algo is bound to pick them up, get ready for fame lol (nice thoughts in the lyrics about this topic btw)

About the guitar part: it sounded great! BUT did you try to do that classic trick of recording it identically twice and panning it left/right? why/why not? so far it's the best trick I learned for mixing guitar and making it sound 100x better than it actually sounds when I record. Now I'm not sure when NOT to use it big_smile

Always a pleasure listening to what you make and the process behind it.

Wow, thank you so much!  I pray to the robot overlords to look kindly on my burgeoning music career smile

I have NEVER done that panning trick!  I am going to have to try that and report back to you!

This song. is so. good. big_smile I've been listening to a ton of your stuff from this year of WB on repeat this week, and this one in particular really sticks with me. At some point I'd love to learn more about how you manage to come up with all these addictive melodic hooks in your tracks.

BUDDY!  Thanks so much, i'm only catching up to responses now that I'm finished for the year *PHEW* Thanks, I have no idea how I come up with this stuff, but WB keeps me picking up the guitar!  You can't write a song on guitar without picking it up, right?  smile
