I like your explanation about the title.  It is a liberating idea if you look at it in the right way.  First time centering a song around bass?  Wow, I find that hard to believe.  That's some tasty bass work going on here.  Cool video as usual also.  At first it couldn't help but remind me of the video to Just by Radiohead, but it definitely does its own thing.

Nice job with the track, the video, and with keeping a straight face all through! (I would've lost it and cracked up around the time the dog started cleaning up the popcorn. tongue )

great bass/guitar tone! thats the baritone right? its got a great chug to it. the vocal mixing is sounding pretty good too!

Always cool when the bass gets some love and the spotlight. Totally relate to the concept too, often feeling like being in both states simultaneously. You know, genuinely feeling like "I don't care what other people think" but at the same time I actually really do care, lol. Mostly about music for me or whatever.

this song SLAPS big_smile

Always loved your bass playing, hope we can do an automatik jam soon. btw wasn't "flying cockroaches" centered around your bass part? p.s. this song rocks

heart goggles

Damn, that bass riff is awesome, and the tone is really cool- definitely got that postpunk vibe. Love the Casio rap man poppin up in the video! Nice work once again…..but, I mean….. who cares?

Nice bass playing! And it's a good message. It is good if people care, but always think to attention can make you nervous and worry. We want to keep the attention, we want the attention more. To this, nobody cares is better in my impression, maybe. Freeing smile Thank you for this song!

I love it when the guitar comes in. It's such a nice addition to the song. The meaning of the song really resonates with me, too.

Great bass playing and love the pupper in the video. Did you play the drums as well??

^YES! THIS!
(also, this time around my complements to Frank on those stylish/snazzy lookin shoes)

The song is kinda perfect -- meaning this as literally as I can.

This song has a deeper implication: when you do find someone who cares, hold on to them for dear life, do not let go...

It is such a good subject. The older I get, the more I care about many things. Why? I don't know, especially that in the end we will all end as food for earth.

Really like the clanky tone of the bass, I usually use less "tone" when I do record electric bass guitar. And again, very good job with the video. You Rock.

I dig the bass focus. Kinda depressing song. Interesting subject matter and double entendre. I really like the "ah-ah-ohh" vocals that break up the lyrical lines. The cutout to guitar @ 2:05 is unexpected, and I liked the way it all came back together. Rarely is a fadeout my favorite choice for a song ending, but I think it works here.

This bass slaps.

Nobody cares to miss an Orange Drink banger!

Another wonderful piece of art. The theme is great and is aligned with what we discussed a few weeks ago on weeklymeets - on how the people that have still been playing music in their 30s (without significant success) do it for the music and stopped caring that there was always more people on stage than in the audience. I agree so much on how freeing it can be that nobody cares, and how it allows to focus more on internal creativity and honesty to yourself.

Thank you for the subs in the video that helps a lot. I really enjoyed the video. It is pretty arcane, I am not sure what all this meant, between the letters, the popcorn, the fact that you can't move. Great job by Frank, and it was an interesting choice not to show his face, which allows him to be this impersonal representation of everyone else. Also great job by the dog who apprently does care about popcorn.

I'm surprised it's the first track that you started on the bass! Even as a guitar player myself, I find it easier to focus on a track's spine structure with a bass.

I love these, keep'em coming!

Super catchy!! I loved the appearance of doggo, what is their name??

this is just a great song, wow, really nothing else to add, just great writing and playing all around

What shall I add to these great comments? Maybe, that my first thought was, well, I hear a violent femmes song... And I had a little pitty seeing you there on the cold ground, helpless. Great work again this week.

Damn it I can't slap the bass comment.  That bass sounds so good with a bit of 90s vibe to it.  Then the beat kicks in with the vocal harmonies ooooh yais!  Excellent pace to the drums too.  I dunno how you're doing it but I'm glad you're keeping up with these videos.  Very inspiring!  smile

Great song writing once again and nice work on the single shot video.  Many a director would be proud.  smile

Nice bass sound! You're doing a video each week too?! Damn, hats off to ya and best of luck. Will be checking back to see how the vids go. (Also, how much time is it taking you? If you'd share)

Love this - what a great song!  the vibe reminds me a bit of the Minutemen only with more character in the vocals and lyrical content.  Truly an anthem for apathy!

Incredible stuff, video is always a nice addition, but the music stands on its own, that driving kick gets things started, awesome bass and most impressive (at least to me) the vocals and lyrics

THAT BASS groove is rad! Great riffs and tone.  Rockin drums as well.  Great raw edgy sound that jives well with the theme of the lyrics. Love that break 4 mins in that leads to the outro.

the bass centering is really fun!  the drums sound great - the video concept & execution is so perfect

at first when Frank put the blanket on you I was like "awe sweet" but as the video went on & you became the stuff/laundry pile i was like:

and josh was like sad when  you did not play the casio rapman - we have its twin sibling...

where can we hear redBus?

Awesome song and video again! I love bass led tunes. Appreciate your explanation about the lyrics, so true, great to hear the why behind it. I wanted to see you playing the bass, but such a cool concept of being buried. Yay

Hello new name person!  We had to do so many takes!  lol

That's actually a regular 4-string bass, not the baritone!  Thanks about the mix!

I know, it's like, "I don't care what you think but if you like it please let me know because I love it" lol the insecurity of vulnerability in art!

Thanks for leaving a comment here!  Flying Cockroaches was centered on guitar, but Aaron Can't Speak was centered around bass!  But in terms of OD songs, I'm hard pressed to think of an "bass centric" song.  YES to automatik + kof15 IRL???

Glad you liked the guitar, I was really happy with the circular movement of that riff.  And I'm glad you "got it"

Can't wait to tell Frank about the shoes because I almost told him to change them!

Ooooo didn't think of that.  Love that.  So grateful for your support.

The serenity prayer: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."

It's really tough to know when to "care" or not.  That's exactly how I feel about WB, I sometimes don't feel like I'm doing a good job, but then I have to remember to not care because I have to share something by Sunday!  I really like CLANKY bass!  I always have the tone knob 100% lol I should try more mellow one of these days.  Thank you for your kind words, Djip!!

Thanks, and "glad" you found it depressing smile  I do fadeouts way too much, but thank you.  And I was happy to hear that the cutout was "unexpected"

I LIVE FOR KEDBREAK REVIEWS you should be an art teacher or a music critic or something - your insights are amazing.  Scroll up for the “VIDEO SECRETS REVEALED” - I think you’ll like it.  I posted that picture on social media and thought to repost here.  Glad the subs help, I don’t like that they get in the way of the video, but I put so much work into the words, I know it’ll be helpful for folks, esp. all my new non-native English friends all over the world!  Japanese subs coming soon once I learn Japanese lol

Thanks!

SLAP IT - I don’t know what the 90s vibe is but I’m here for it!  Thanks buddy!  Congrats on your new album which I will buy on Bandcamp Friday!

Took a LOT of takes so glad it was worth it!  I’m a big fan of the one-take films Rope and Birdman and Gravity and 1917

My goal is to work on the song Tuesday, think about it Wednesday, finish recording and do the video shoot Thursday, then mix/master track and edit video on Friday.  This HAS NOT WORKED AT ALL this year, and i’ve been staying up super late Friday night until 6am in the morning to finish!  But trying to scale some stuff back this week and get the rest of my life organized.  It’s a real time management challenge!  Thanks so much!

thank you and thank you and HILARIOUS images.  what is the Rapman’s sibling???  Tell Josh the Rapman will return this year, don’t sweat it!

zirafa (he commented earlier) was also a redBus member - we keep talking about compiling the old live shows and tracks!

Thank you for the video clarification - I was missing some of the symbols - I love it!
Was the instrument offered not a Casio Rapman? Josh haz one:

& fun to learn about the musical family tree with zirafa!

i'm struggling with the bbcode tonight wow smile

that story is amazing - is that "bad grandpa's" origin story?
back in the late 90's Josh got his  Rapman for $5 at a garage sale

Hell yeah, yellow strings!  I was rocking a pair of orange ones for wedding gigs for awhile, but they were tearing up my fingers so they had to go.  Killer bass tone though, sounds great.  Love the bridge near the end too.

Sorry I missed this!  Yeah, I love the strings but agreed, they tear you up.  I keep saying I should get nicer strings but I just love how they look lol.  Thanks for watching!
