The riff sounds very pillows.

Once again, fantastic concept and execution, both for the song and video. It's really cool to see such consistently solid videos coming together each week!

Cool song! I dig the harmonies, and really like how they build. They just kind of keep doing different things surprising throughout the song, keeping my interest. And the video is creative and enjoyable as always. Keep it up!

great song and video - i can't believe you are making full choreographed music videos every week in addition to writing songs!   I love the harmony in this track (and in a lot of your recent wb tunes as well) something about those sustained intervals, it makes me nostalgic for alt-rock from the 90s.  nice work

Ok for this track you kept the checking of the box to the end of the video, this makes it more satisfying. Last week the check was boxed for the intro/explanation of the video and my OCD was kicking in. smile

First, yay for the danelectro baritone. The twang and the sexy vintage vibe of that guitar cannot be overestimated. I think onezero also uses one time to time. I am glad you were able to fix it for this track.

The music/melody is good but I was more enthralled by the concept and how it was resonating with some deeper layers of unconscious. I love the setting, with the the two chairs that are the same, and the flower backgrounds that are both similar and different. And how the lyrics can be sung by you and your husband, and they are both very personal to the person but also shared by the other person. It rhymes in all of us, this is a celebration of our shared humanity, with all its peaks but also dark anxieties. A celebration of our differences but how in the end we're so similar and connected. The opening of the curtains at 3:30 was a good moment, and I interpreted it as a person evolving and finding their own personal truth. And the parallelism of the pictures at 4:00 was very nice, again we're different on the surface but isn't what we do the same?

I really enjoyed this track. The whole video concept was really fascinating and deep. Thank you very much for this.

Nice chord progression dude! I also really dig the stripped down simplicity of it just being guitar and singing, very strong entry for the year. Man, I really want a baritone guitar.

I want a baritone too now... and a jazzmaster. Damn you Drew! Nicely executed again, love the harmonized vocals.

Frank has a great singing voice!

Really really like the chord progression for this one. The vocals are perfect for it, too. Great work!

Great song and video. Already an earworm.

Since covid has robbed us of concerts I get goose bumps hearing this while getting showered with those intimate live concert vibes! Well done!

And oh yea...
..
.
Fantastic track! wink

Ok you can stop being amazing for a week now, maybe two...  Frank with the MVP award. I just love seeing how comfortable you both come across on screen, that he clearly supports you and your music 1000%. That's beautiful. You guys are amazing, I am going full Downward Spiral this week... I've had enough of bad energy from certain people and I am not holding back... stay tuned!

When are you going to slowdown hopeful 2023 keep up the energy. ⚡⚡⚡

Awesome concept for a track and video.  I'm really impressed at the amount of work you're obviously pouring into these, but the results speak for themselves.  Love seeing Frank getting involved in your videos.  He seems like a really cool guy and it's great to see the love and support emanating off the screen.

You know, I always wondered if Nine Inch Nails would be even better if Trent's imaginative music had better lyrics and the answer is: yes, just listen to Orange Drink! I've had quite a set of childhood music associations with your songs (and I really hope the Nine Inch Nails doesn't irk), there's a hint of grunge, a hint of The Flaming Lips psychedelia, all these somethings that kinda-sorta-on-the-tip-of-the-tongue, but none accurate capture the whole of it. Not sure if it's my age group (our age group?), but the lyrics and these younger-self music evoked by the grit of the voice, the slow steady train of this guitar riff, the 90s kinda sound (but also not 90s) is resonating in ways that I can't explain. Which is what music does best, a thing that in spite of a poem-with-sound can not be said with words.

tldr: favorited, downloaded, love it.

Great jangly guitars!

Awesome track, I get Decemberists vibes, but the chorus/bridges are like stripped back Joseph Arthur.. I should stop comparing things to other thing. its just good.

Stopped by to listen again, that chord progression is a banger haha. It's just such a good foundation to build a vocal melody over.

Nice work once again! Great to see Diaz getting the recognition he deserves. I really love the way u add those “tension” parts to riffs. it totally makes your songs have that almost indescribable thing I’ve always liked about Martin L. Gore’s song writing- so much better than “predictable” pop

Damn love the sound of that guitar.  Had me instantly with those chord swipes.  Also found myself singing along to the chorus and doo-doos smile  and def needed a 2nd listen (after the vidjo viewing).  You and Frank nailed it this week!  Oh out of my mind just came on again 'scuse me.

The baritone has mega tone! The vocals are strong and sincere. Well done and kudos to Frank and Diaz for their supporting roles. I'm realizing the chart with squares for each week in your videos is giving me minor panic attacks every time I see it but I'm learning to cope smile

I need to learn the history of the phrase "holy mackerel". It's a good one.
This song and video is a good one too. Powerful. Got some chills on that line about not once did they ask about feeling inside. So good. With just guitar and voice, it was easier to focus on the lyrics, tempo helped too. Great concept of the side by side, powerful stuff. Congrats on another one!

Impressive variety of sounds between weeks. Diaz keeps popping up, nice one, excellent appearance this time. Nice harmonising between you and your husband. Inspiring work.

i specifically appreciate this comment.  i really enjoy repetition, but i’m trying to learn how to be repetitive (I could not spell that word in 4 tries) without being boring.

thanks so much - i don’t know what makes it 90s alt-rock, that’s a good question - I’m curious now!

Kedbreak, your comments make me understand my work better.  Thank you.  I hope we can hangout in person one day, have a jam, and then go out to dinner and have philosophical conversations!  I am so grateful for how closely you listen/watch.  heart

Thank you, I was considering giving it the band treatment but was a fun challenge on how to make this stand on its own.  GET THE BARITONE
…and thanks for coming back!

this really made me think about what makes 90s rock sound the way it is.  yes, definitely our age group, that sound is just in my blood from the hours spent listening.  I love NIN so thank you but that compliment is too generous!  also, I don’t want Trent to read this and then be sad, lol.  boy, i’m really honored that this piece touched you the way it did.  thank you for your thoughtful remarks.

lol Diez seriously was going crazy during the shoot!  wow, that was a really deep and overwhelming compliment about the tension.  it’s not really something i consciously think about, so i’m very lucky

lol i try not to look at the calendar ever.  i know it’s helpful for the viewing audience, so that’s why i did it, but nope nope nope nope.  thanks for the compliment on the vocals.

someone said holy mackerel is a christian joke and holy cow is a hindu joke!  weird and hilarious!  i’m not sure the origin though!  thanks so much, a big compliment if someone gets chills.  glad the simplicity and video all contributed to the experience!  i appreciate you watching and commenting, buddy!

Awesome man, another great one without any clutter.  I think the baritone really guitar helps thicken it up.  Also all the harmonies are making the vocals  sound huge.  Very cool.

love the guitar tone. oh holy moly this is full-on channeling Guided By Voices!

What a totally different style track from last week! Oh man, this is really something special for me heart heart heart

Raw and emotional. This is important music. Thank you for bringing it to the world! I feel inspired from this to make something that matters, aside from the regular funny shit I usually make big_smile Let's see if it catches on.
Thanks for sharing! Beautiful song and gorgeous guitar may I add!

How are you feeling inside Drew?

That was really moving.

The baritone sounded great.

Josh & I have matching lilac colored 90's era Danelectros that were bought from the same guitar shop before we ever met.

I have the longhorn bass that matched his electric guitar.

Alternate lives are strange but cool when they converge and become something else.

The paintings behind you in this video are super cool.

Great song!  This is so creative.  inspiring me to eventually records some vocals of my own.  This has a great 90's alternative vibe.

i was streaming this weeks songs & listening to this again
it knocked something loose in my brain from an alternate life in the 2000's
the band josh was in when i met him had a song with a similar intro
josh found a link to an old recording on soundcloud of slo mo
it's possible the lilac danelectro was the guitar in this recording
thought you might enjoy smile

Not much to add to all the great comments above, just keep doing what you do, each week I’m just waiting to see what new creative idea/process you will present to us, fantastic stuff

Dude, that is so well executed.  Every part of it.  Great song and great video concept. Bravo all round and how cool are baritone guitars. smile

I have nothing new to add to the conversation here, just want to say keep this up man. You're killing it! smile

No words just a lot of love for this song and the sweet video. Thank you so much

Thanks for asking!  I’m feeling excited for how this year is going, but also really tired.  Still trying to find the work/life/sleep balance, but I know i’m just on the steep part of the learning curve.  I’m really overjoyed and feel really lucky to have such a supportive WB family.  THAT’S how I’m feeling inside!

CUTEST story about matching Danelectros!  True love.  heart  WOW that track was awesome!  I love the constantly ascending riff, that was epic.  Way to go JOSH - tell him I said “Way to go JOSH” and say it like that smile
