Proxima

Instrumentation on this piece is in line with what I've been doing: three guitars, this time with the PureSalem Mendiola in standard tuning. I wanted to shake things up a bit, though, so I began with this first theme: a melody and partial harmony line with an accidental in it, so I'd have to work around that note without my default chordal solutions.

I recorded this in two quick tracking sessions Wednesday night and Thursday night. Getting it all to work together took a bit of editing in shuffling parts around, but there were only a few problems to solve at the note level. (In one case, dropping in a chord from a different take, and in a few others, prepending a couple strumming attacks when I'd strummed before the bar line at the beginning of recording a phrase.)

The earliest stuff I'd tracked had the vintage circuit on the UA Volt, which you can hear on the first chords in the first theme, and in a few other places. Other parts sounded better clean, so I turned it off after that. Otherwise, there's convolution reverb and compression/eq on the stereo main.

The title is from Proxima Centauri, which is object 551 in the Gliese Catalogue of Nearby Stars

This sounds great. Really beautiful harmonies and progression.

love that shift to the muted 8th notes @ 1:50.
more goodness & light from onezero

dreamy

The most gentle space rock.
Not sure what the chordial solutions entail, the first thing in this song is a chord after all.
