The Third Mark of a New year

By Nyarlos on January 7, 2024 8:40 pm

Welcome back! Hope you all have a sick new year, and we all bring the tunes!

This past year I have actually been practicing! And proper practice, not just jamming, and I have a few goals I would like to achieve. One is my alternate picking, I have always struggled with mid single alternate picking apart form hyper tremolo picking, and Baroness's new album this year had a Gina solo that just ate my face with a picking style I just can't do, so something to work on.
Secondly is 2022 was going through all my pedals, this year its all AMPS baby!!!! I want to get through them all, and find the best tones possible from my whole collection.

My plan is to grab an amp, play around, get a tone and then write what happens with it.
I have used a bit of my time this past year getting my recording setup sorted, I re-jigged the whole room, set up a send and return rack and spent a decent amount of time checking mic and setup config.

So to start the year off with a blast (he he), a few months ago I found a second Mesa Mk3 that had a minor problem, got it fixed and now it joins its sister, this one is a different stripe and has the EQ (Mesa V for the win!) and was RIDICULOUSLY cheap.
Tubescreamer in front, carbon copy and TC G Major in the loop. One track I even used the Sonic Maximizer on as well. Such a brutal cutting tone. Still one of my faves of all time.

Here we go again with another WB!

It's always interesting to see how the riffs I hear you tinkering with at the shop come together into a full song smile

I see what you did there with the name tongue

Damn that is some aggressive tones! A little fizzy for my tastes, still super cool to hear that on this platform.

Welcome back! Looking forward to hearing how you progress with your goal. The tones in here are brutal. Looking forward to living vicariously through you with your amp collection. I will be using the same 3-4 amp models on Helix Native.

Keep it up!

Wild and exciting stuff. This is definitely going to be an exciting year!

Awesome to hear some proper brutal metal here, maybe I have to go this route for week 2. big_smile Great old school guitar tone and clean picking, and some really great riffs as well.!

Back at it again, harder than ever.
Rock on.

Always a pleasure to hear your metal and go on a gear tour.  Looking forward to all the amps
