Happy 2024! It's good to be back!

This one follows from my trend of the last couple years of working with guitar only, often with minimal effects. Some of the reasoning behind this is its immediacy: tonal variation comes from my fingers, as opposed to pedals. There's also the aspect of plugging in and playing without a lot of setup time. This vein may run out after a while, but for now I'm still hearing new music this way. Also within the last year, I've challenged myself to make shorter pieces, and try to get to the point sooner. This one still starts with a bit of an atmospheric intro that (to me) makes sense with the rest of the piece.

Guitar: PureSalem Mendiola. Effects: there's a line hum from the bridge pickup in a few places; I've put some low-pass EQ-8 on the affected clips. But it's still there if you listen for it, so I'm accepting that as part of the history of this recording. (Odd that it's on the hum bucking bridge pickup.) There's also some convolution reverb and an eq/mastering plugin on the stereo mix. Converter: UA Volt-1, this time without the vintage tone circuit engaged.

The title comes from the northern terminus of PA route 523, this being the 523rd weekly piece I've done since beginning the practice with WB 2014.

This is really nice!  Lovely tone.

Good to see you on weekly beats from weekly streaks. It feels strange to go from 5 people active a week to a WB community where the first week has more than 370+ tracks!

Great tracks to relax to and absorb into, i always enjoy the nuances of the melody and of the playing.

here we go i found this year

523!!! congratulations - what an achievement!

this track is so gentle and beautiful

Thank you, rdomain, Kedbreak136, and emily! (I don't seem to be able to quote just yet.) It does feel strange to go from the small-population streak.club to here. But it'll start feeling natural as the year goes on.

Thank you for listening!

Just the right amount of melancholy.

ohh this is beautiful :') the hum gives it a bit of a nostalgic feel i think, so i like the way it fades in and out of the track between sections.

Super gorgeous song. There's a musician I love named Pino Forastiere that does these kind of gentle acoustic songs and I haven't heard anyone else do anything close to what he does. Basically, I love this song, haha.

52 sounds like an overwhelming number of tracks. 523 is… a lot smile listening to the track made me relax a little before going back to 2024 anxiety.

great melody, really soothing, congrats on 523!!

i like

Very nice, beautiful guitar tone!

This is beautiful.  Looking forward to more.

Nice work! Reminds me a lot of einaudi

Just very very lovely - like floating down a river. Love the meaning in the name and also your snwv project. 523 is amazing - congrats and looking forward to the year!

Beautiful and delicate playing. The shift and feeling of movement starting around 2:30 is really effective

Excellent tone and Jeff Buckley-like. Beautiful.

Very nice, calming piece. Excellent guitar sound. Congrats on 523, that's amazing and impressive!

as others noted, wonderful expressive tone! and intricate playing. i feel it tells a story musically. welcome back!

this was awesome, 523 what a feat, welcome to WB 2024!

So lovely and spacious. Every note is in its place. Truly enjoying this track, thank you

Very relaxing and melodic 😌

I've been keeping track of you last year, and I'm glad you're still doing things the way you do.
