Machete to the Face

By Nyarlos on March 24, 2024 9:19 pm

Started something and realised I wasn't gonna make it in time, so quickly changed tack and thought I could quickly knock out some Beat Down Hardcore.

This weeks amp is another oddball in my collection, the Fender Machete 50 watt. An attempt to get in to the higher gain market, but people just didn't trust Fender to do the gain thing I think. It's weird and I always have a time getting a tone, sometimes it takes 5 seconds and sounds great, the next time I spend an hour chasing and don't quite get there. This is kind of halfway, because I didn't have much time lol.

Playing wise I tried to keep it fast and aggressive, couldn't justify a solo (that's just not hardcore) and pushed my down picking on the mosh riff, its about 180bpm, but I wanted it to have a little bit of groove and loose timing, and Im not Scott Ian, soooooooo.....good enough.
Get in the pit and do some karate kicks.

This was fucking brutal \m/, O \m/,

What an interesting amp! Never heard of one and I thought I'd heard (most) all before. The tone sounded really cool. Was the bass also played through this by chance?

Thanks George! No, all digital for the bass, I have a nice radial HDI Bass DI that I have started using, but then into Bias Amp. Not quite the same as a Machete though lol
