The Joy You Bring

Simple does it this week: this piece has only cello and violin. Before last year's Black Friday I decided I wanted a solo strings library, even if I didn't have the budget for the most renown ones. I was watching a Youtube video of audio comparison between different ones (from Guy Michelmore I think, he's really nice to check out for tutorials and reviews) and immediately I singled out Abbey Road 2 from Spitfire. I really enjoyed the sound being full bodied and close yet not raspy as if you are inside the actual instrument
Sure, like every other library on Earth it has it downsides and quirks, it will not do for every composition and you have to play its strengths. I don't do any advanced quartet work anyway so for simple melodic, soundtrackish vibe it's simply great. Plus that the core version is reasonably priced and has a good enough mix sound available
- as opposed to BBC which is quite wet for some people's taste and this is in fact what kept me away from other libraries: they may be more agile, more varied in technique, quicker to load and so on but still they sound as if they are recorded in a massive hall (incidentally they are). While close mics are many times available, the character of that spece is still there, somehow.
Thus I am happy with this library for my own stuff.
