Go Go Go Go

By NWSPR on December 23, 2018 11:58 pm

Surprisingly this started out as a Christmas song with bells and chimes and took some serious twists and turns. Apologies on the vocals... my wife was yelling at me to keep it down so I was practically whispering and mixing through my earbuds.

I did some buzzed out bass playing and a trashy bass lead at the end that may be lost in all the fuzz. Overall super trashy and over compressed... just as I like it smile

Feeling really good about the year. I've learned a lot from everyone that will read this comment. Each one of you has pushed me a little bit in different directions although it may not sound completely evident from my weekly tracks.  I google search all the gear, instruments and theory that you reference and am influenced by all the different work flows and approaches everyone takes.

Thanks for listening and the comments. Thanks for all the great music. 1 more week to go go Go Go!

whoo hoo!!! super fun track - 1 more week to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is so good man! I love the vocals. And I can totally relate to having to be quiet while trying to lay down vocs ha, one of the reasons I go the vocoder route a lot

The vocals aren't coming through well in the mix, but it's still really nice. A classic NWSPR.

The whisper-core adds a different dimension on it.  Kind of like it.

The synth and drum combo is really strong (per usual)

ONE MORE LEFT GO GO GO

Yep, I've been busted on being too loud with the vocals before.  I think the quiet vocals work in this context.  Awesome upbeat vibe.

Great upbeat vibe to this! I think the quiet vocals work really well here, makes a great "counterweight" to the intensity of the synth and drums.

very catchy and full of musical hooks. Great drive and the bass really is a bulldozer. This one might get even better with additional vocals here and there. In my mind I hear a distant, shouted vocal doubling those whispered ones in places. Great stuff, go go go smile

Love that buzzing driving bass. and the vocals, even though quieter, they are cool. Agree, classic NWSPR. Yes, let's GO GO GO!!! Funny how things can start one way and take a turn, feel like that's every darn week. I have same issue with vocals ... can rarely be too loud. When everyone leaves the house I go nuts.

Really fun writing heart It's a shame about those vocals lmao, maybe I could suggest the free vocaloid route wink As a completely silent producer, I can relate to the noise issues. I absolutely love railing away on the piano at 2am when nobody's home wink

Yeah, the vocoder is perfect for the low volume situation but sometimes I just want to unleash my terrible human voice on the unsuspecting. Or am too lazy to fit in another piece of gear for the track smile

Thanks. Sometimes the vocals not coming through is a blessing in disguise.

Whisper-core... is that a thing? If not should be.  It does give it a certain quality of "don't care". Thanks for listening!

Thanks! Man, sometimes it gets ridiculous. I was playing in a hardcore band when she met me. Now I'm reduced to whispering vocals next to the washing machine. There is just no respect for my art smile

Thanks! Much appreciated. I think it worked out but will hopefully rerecord when nobody is around smile

Great ideas. I am going to try and rework with your recommendations and extend out another verse. Thanks!

I'm the same way but some days I can't catch any alone time and am recording in utter family chaos with wife and kids. But they put up with me and all my racket (and gear all over the place).

Thanks! I'll have to give that a try.

I love how this pairs your new wave chops with a hint of glam rock, a tasty combo heart

Excellent driving bass line and drums.  The vocals have a cool feel to them almost like the Edge from U2 is singing smile
