Unmoored

By note! on July 15, 2022 9:39 pm

Pulled a little off-beat melody from a recorded piano jam and reworked it in Polyend Tracker. Had a real meditative quality to it. Took that and ran with it. Feeling very unmoored. Maybe it's the stars.

Thank you! Flowy is the name of the game smile)

Are the pianos reworked to sound like cellos or strings? Very cool. I like the introduction of the percussive elements that come and go.

Yup - just using wavetable playback on the piano sample combined with some slow attack and LFOs and on the volume envelope. Ended up being very string-like, you're right! All melodic sounds are the same sample. Drums are a different sample though.

Wow, this is not a genre I normally expect to be made on a Polyend Tracker―and it sounds grand. cool From the description, it sounds like those cello-like tones started life as a piano?  That's some brilliant sampling.  Curious if you pre-processed the samples before loading them onto the Tracker, or if it was all done with the on-board effects.

Aww thanks. I really appreciate it ;; I love trying to make music on trackers that doesn't sound like tracker music.. sometimes haha. I did not pre-process the samples at all. Unless you count that the audio was ripped from a video in a text message that was originally recorded on a phone mic. Oh also it was sent from an iphone to an android so was also compressed to all hell. Is that pre-processing? Haha. Also I was wrong on the sample playback: some was wavetable but most was granular.

I'm just zoning out to this
