Way of the World (M8 Demo version)

By noggin on October 23, 2022 11:03 pm

Back in the before-times, very early 2020, I had this song come to me one day so I wrote it, liked it, and started performing it. It was unabashedly a kids' song, just some stuff I thought sounded funny and maybe some advice I wish I'd have gotten when I was younger. Almost ominous how I randomly wrote a song referencing germs right before 'the germ' shut us all down.
Even more coincidentally, I managed to (with some help, of course) produce offspring shortly after writing this. He will be 2 tomorrow, so I think its appropriate I finally commit this one 'to tape' as you will.
Final tracking was actually done live into the m8 using a zoom recorder for a mic with line out... I tried a few different configurations, recording m8 and zoom at same time (didnt have the right cables), doing some stuff in logic, but I finally just settled on recording into the m8 and doing it there. I've gotten pretty familiar within that territory.

Thanks for listening, and apologies for jolting you out of your regular wb flow :]

muchas gracias - I’m always happy when I conjure a gif from you.
And in this case almost 2!

What an incredible mix of chip tune arps and a dad song. I wish your little guy jams the hell to this.

It's good advices for any age. Impressive the m8 can do this, but for your kid's sake, see if you can push the vocals a bit in the mix.

The chip just comes naturally out of this thing now :]

Appreciate the constructive feedback!

This is great! Congrats on producing such a fun tune.  Good to know the m8 can just "do it live" when necessary.

Thank you! I have a feeling this week is going to be even more 'do it live' so stay tuned for that

Good stuff wink you should post the lyrics.

Looks like we got off easy this time―the only visible effect from this track seems to be that none of its commenters can get their BBCode tags right on the first try tongue

I haven't commented on this, but heard it way back when and really love this.

I wonder if I have your Election Day still in my octatrack somewheres... You on the mic (preferably playing the guitar) = win in my book, always.
