Two Chord Song (2005)

My new year's resolution for 2018 was "NO NEW PROJECTS". I have a difficult time finishing things I've started and because of this my hard drives are littered with unfinished songs and videos. Over the past two weeks, I've begun systematically sorting through this material, organizing it, deleting things, and finishing projects. This may not be exactly within the rules of Weekly Beats but I'd like to use it as a place to post this material. These songs may have been started years ago but were never finished, never mixed, and never shared before now.

In 2004, my sophomore year of college, I was in a band called "Face Down in Mexico City with an Ice Pick in the Back". We played a lot of shows but only really recorded a few songs (maybe only 4 or 5). One of the songs I loved playing was one we called "Two Chord Song" (I feel like we didn't make real titles for songs until they were recorded and released). It was a HUGE sounding song - the kind of song where it would start small and end with everyone freaking out, playing as loud and fast as possible. After the band ended, the singer and I were working on recording songs for a split EP we planned to release (and never did). We decided to record "Two Chord Song". I never did anything with these recordings, I never mixed them, I never shared it with anyone... until now 13 years later.
I still like the song but I feel I've learned a lot about arranging a song since then. I took a lot of the tracks we recorded out of the final product, which i think was really good for the song overall. For those wondering, I played piano, some guitar, and sang some harmonies towards the end.
