a rabbit hole on titan

Last week I made some crack about disaster ruining plans, etc... yeah well. Didn't really start this song till late last night lol.

But first - apologies, I didn't get to listen to much this week, missed a lot of my faves, and didn't get to comment or reply to comments. Life is chaos here.

I'm not sure this song is where I want it to be - it's finished, but I feel like the idea could be pushed into a more specific space. It's called rabbit hole because it started as one - this week, in the midst of stress and more work than time, I stole minutes at a time to throw on the headphones and just run a simple arp through the Grandmother and turn dials, and sometimes those minutes became a lot longer than I expected. Spent most of the week doing that, then sorta last minute Saturday night I recorded four takes and pieced everything together Sunday afternoon.

Grandmother > Zoia patch, and the Pulsar delivering that meaty kick via the modular. Rest was composited in Ableton.

Not where I expected this track to end up but I will take it for now and maybe come back to it later.

The minutes that you managed to claim for yourself to work on this added up. I'm was bopping my head away. Also playing with my mini Moog (digital) and amazed at the sounds you managed to get out of it. You made grandma come alive.

solid! That grandmother sounds so good. Thanks for finding the time for this one smile

The grandmother indeed sounds great.  the rhythm of that arp gets ya nodding immediately. Excellent come down and outro. \m/

Moog team represent, again! As you predicted last week, you broke your ambient streak somewhat. I'm not surprised as I gotta say I super enjoy that Grandmother riff. It drives the rest powerfully, and while a simple patch (esp. compared to last week), it is so rich and evolving as Moogs tend to be.

But I say you only "somewhat" broke the streak as the hypnotic nature of your music remains. So it still sounds like a track from the same musical project.

Next up: overdub Grandmother to have multiple synth parts! 😈

Grandmother heart
hypnotic headphone listen, i love it
hope this week is calmer for you.

Extremely relatable... Same here, my friend...
This is sounding GREAT, tho! I'm really liking the slowly evolving patterns here, this is awesome!!! Awesome sound design choices all around, too.

I like how you used a simple pattern and make it evolve through the tracks.

Ah man. What a journey. Such a slow beautiful evolution of all the instruments.

Pretty cool rabbit.

Feelin' the more work than time thing... like I'll admit being over-employed is a good problem to have... but it's amazing how much extra is required come Saturday night tryin to get a Weekly Beat out.  You definitely put together a vibe though.  Hypnotic loops, with just enough evolving sound design to keep it interesting throughout.  Easy to get lost in.

I love how this is a bridge between your ambient and your techno - rhythmic, yet truly hypnotic and evolving. That moment when it opened up at around the 2:00 mark felt like Dorothy opening the door to Oz and everything bursts into color. Wonderful.

Totally hear you on how frenetic life has been - hope you’re able to find some peace, my friend.

So good! Happy that you stole those minutes!

wishing you less chaos & more peace

Got lost in this one. Evolves nicely

Welcome to the chaos club haha

The obstinato is nice, the way the synth voice evolve is really where the story is at

I'm the same has you, had to deal with a lot of stuff so couldn't listen and reply as much as I feel I should! This track talks to me with the way it feels repetitive and tenuous, yet gets lighter and moves forward, with more creative complexity... just like we strive to, right?
