A bit of a modular mess. I often circle back to live, improvised performances based on the Subharmonicon at centre stage - this week, one of my fave performances of such disappeared from youtube and I have no idea why and honestly it makes me kinda sad. It was the one video from this creator that had garnered thousands of views - it was stunningly beautiful - and I guess he took it down.

Anyway to date I have failed entirely to just have a solo subharmonicon performance because I guess I get distracted by all those neglected modules in my rack. So there's some other elements here from the modular, and a little heartbeat added in ableton. Edited down from 9 minutes to 5 and I consider that a major achievement.

This sounds so lush and pleasing.  There is the hint of something lurking but it just feels nice to hear the warmth of the pads/strings all coming together as one.  The bell ending was an excellent touch.  Well done!

Wow, I love this. Whenever I’ve heard a modular jam (which honestly is not that often) it tends to be just bloopy and beepy.  This is…lush…and rich.  Cinematic. The string elements  that come in around 1:20 make a great contrast. And that bell Ending? Makes me think of Moonchild on Court of the Crimson King, those ringing tones that bring form to chaos. Beautiful.

this ain't no mess imo, neon! just a gorgeous piece. honestly took my breath away. the leading tones in the lower registers make me feel like i'm standing on the shore while the waves pull the sand from under my feet and draw me out into the water.
and yeah, the bell is the perfect ending.
thank you  heart

Thick and luscious. Really evocative.
Love it.

This one goes deep, that is some great textures and warmth you extracted from the gear, great job at allowing the sounds to flow and unfold.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!
Absolutely no notes. Just amazing!!!!

perfect accompaniment to smoky vistas

Beautiful.

Crimson King is a high compliment, thank you heart ! I think a lot of modular jams and performances sound that particular way because there's an impulse to make modular music "embrace" the aspects of modular gear that makes it unique - those qualities that are distinct to "modular", and really highlight those qualities. I just tend to use a lot of unique modular features to make what I "want", I'm less invested in making it sound "modular".

Thank you heart Nearly everything you described, bell included, was the same instrument - the Subharmonicon - so if you're ever in a room with one you should definitely play with some knobs and buttons smile
