I took some time off from Weekly Beats and I am SO excited to be submitting this track this week. Doing the first 26 weeks was incredible for growth but I think I burnt out a little. I used summer vacation as a reset and for the last 6 weeks I have been doing some learning and experimenting deep dives. It's good to make and finish music again.

Congrats to everyone who has not taken a break, you guys are warriors!

I am pleased with this track. I felt like a lot of things came together for me. I have made significant changes to the way I make music and think about it. Before I was recording samples from instruments and doing all the production in Renoise. What I am doing now, is all the sequencing in renoise, sending it out to the synths "live" and sending the audio back to renoise for processing. On this track, Renoise is generating the breakbeat, everything else is being sequenced by renoise and playing live. It feels so much better to be able to tweak the synths through the whole process rather than being stuck in the box making changes to fixed samples. I also mapped a lot of faders and automation to the knobs on my Keystep 37 which feels more creative and organic than working in the box. makes me want to buy a nanokontrol. if anyone has midi controllers that they really like let me know.

I also took the time to completely learn the Pro800 and deepen my knowledge of the Neutron and TD-3. I read the original 1982 manual for the Project 600. The manual referenced the book Electronic Music by Allan Strange so I'm reading that now too. Good stuff

ANYWAYS, i feel like the break was good and productive and it feels really good to post this week. I would like to do as many of the remaining 12 weeks as possible so let's see how that goes. Excited to see what everyone has been up to!

WELCOME BACK!!! I missed your breaks and acid. This sounds so great. There's a real sense of release and freedom to it somehow - the synths sound organic and expressive, everything is meshing and vibing and playing in the rhythm. Really fantastic, can't wait to hear what's next. Great to hear your grooves again!

Welcome back, and it seems you've won WeeklyBeats by finding a way to make music better, easier and faster, which is arguably what it's about

Welcome back. God only knows where you would be at, if you wouldn’t have taken a break. It was a wise decision to step back and reorganize yourself. The thing was, I often thought of you and I am happy nothing really tragical made you pause.
Glad you are back with those nice amen breaks.

Welcome back to WB!!! Awesome to hear the time off was so productive!
This is also quite the comeback!! This sounds awesome!!! The dnb + acid feel here is so cool.

massive return, just brilliant! glad you were able to take some time to rest and recharge.

nice tight breaks

Thanks, Ebrit, it really does force you to throw out everything that is distracting or time wasting and just make music. I'm learning from you all!

LOL, that was the joke I wanted to make.

That's what I do, too. This is awesomely flexible. Happy to see you're already putting it to good use! Fun rave with those '90s-style dry acid tones!

I feel like I'm the last one to figure it out but I'm so glad I'm figuring it out. Works especially well with the Poooy and Posloy equipment 😂
