EXW_WB_Y24W14.WAV (total solar eclipse)

By nedsferatu on April 5, 2024 3:48 pm

On Monday there will be a total solar eclipse in my neck of the woods and everyone is very excited about it. I think this is good music for watching the eclipse. I'll let you know how it goes.

This was made with my regular combo of Renoise, Neutron, Pro-800, TD-3, and an Amen Break. I also used a short vocal sample from Free Sound. I feel like I could have made this myself but here we are. The attribution is below.

I took inspiration from Breakage Prophecy for this week. I like learning from the best, always helpful to take a deep look into something good. I chose Prophecy for this week because it fits with an idea I have been wanting to explore more. When i started getting into making music, I would just put a generative monosynth patch on top of a breakbeat and I really liked it. I want to add that energy of live performance and longer samples back into my tracks. I think it adds a lot of interest without adding a lot of additional complexity to the mix.

This is easily my longest song ever but I'll allow it. big_smile Happy with this!

This goes so hard. The break is just an assault the entire time. I love the punchy bass too. It’s like Iron Man getting wailed on by Cap and Winter Soldier at the same time—it just won’t stop from all sides.

Love it. And the length is perfect for the eclipse

Wow! Love everything about this, perfect mix of ambience and breakbeat. Stank-face inducer for real

Fantastic work. I enjoyed it completely.

The eclipse now sounds even more badass. The synths create an eerie mood, and the subtle vocal adds to the atmosphere. Nice work with the amen break, too!

Wow, incredible amen work, favorited. My area is totally clouded in so I'll just stay indoors and listen to this and hit play as soon as the dark shadow hits my house @ 10,000 miles an hour.

great breaks, love the staccato chops and the occasional reversed hit. great bassline you've got going in this one as well -- nice work!

Great execution, made the Amen break still sound fresh, that sustained synth does a great job anchoring the track.
