Wandering Dreams

Well, as the late upload might indicate, I really ran this one down to the wire.  I spent most of my Saturday studio time working on a school project, and I had a couple idea in the Tracker Mini and the Deluge, that come Sunday afternoon, I just hated too much to work on, so I decided to do a bit of a twofer with this track.  On the one hand it is slapped together lofi, so WB track check; also I just upgrade my Komplete bundle to the new version 15, which came with a bunch of new sounds and instruments... so trying out a bunch of the new stuck check.  The only think here that's not an NI instrument is the wooshes in the transitions, pretty much everything else is NI, and I think everything but the drums is new to Komplete 15.  I'm enjoying the new instruments a lot.  Alicia's Electric Keys I think sound really nice, and oh man, Sway and Glaze 2... lovely.  All in all I don't hate it, but I was mixing right up to the upload deadline on this one, and I think the mix could still use some work, but done is better than perfect.

Hope all is well in your respective corner of the universe.  Mine is starting to settle down and all the new routines are starting to build up... soon I might even have time to just sit and chill... ٩( ᗒᗨᗕ )۶

here's to sitting and chilling!

Lovely. Gosh those keys are warm and mellow, I'm always hesitant on the Komplete update mostly cuz of cost but also because omg choice paralysis lol. This is really fun, such a chill and concise mood, just awesome.

love the trip hop vibes that the bass and drums bring to the main melody.  That pad in the background sounds so soothing too, oof! Excellent laid back chill feels throughout.

drums are sounding great, love the ghost notes/snare rolls. nice layers and melodies throughout

Well, in my experience you are a very fine example of a human person... so I hope the track helped you to remember that d(>_・ )

Yeah I get that.  The way I handle the choice paralysis is to dedicate time specifically to just playing through presets and patches... where the only goal is just to familiarize myself with options and "favorite" patches.  Then for most of my projects I figure out the pallet in a separate session from when I do the composition to avoid stifling the creativity in the moment by spending an hour flipping through 200 presets or whatever.  So then when I'm composing, or I have all the sounds to hand already, and when I'm like... "you know what this needs some synthy string type sounds", I can filter by "type" and "character" and only look at favorites, and instead of 200 choices I have like 5... but this is also coming from someone who's happy to spend three weeks building out a modular patch a couple hours a day, so that I can record one track with it before I tear it down and start over... like the fiddling and fussing with sounds is kind of my favorite part, and I get that you have to be a special kind of broken to be happy spending several hours, flipping through thousands of presets just to bookmark like 10 of them... so... not for everybody.

Thanks, that pad is from Glaze 2 I think... and honestly, I like Glaze 2 a LOT more than the original. Like Pharlight, it's an instrument built from vocal samples, but the first one most to the patches felt a little... gimicy maybe... like just not super useful (for me) outside of the context of a very specific grouping of pop type tracks.  But the second one just feels like they made more general purpose type instruments that happen to be made from vocals.

Thanks, I was worried that I got a little carried away with snare rolls, so I'm glad you like how it turned out.
