Unwitnessed

Ahoy hoy everyone...

Well... this week was EXHAUSTING. Like, I basically had no time for music at all during the week... I've been pulling multiple 10pm days at work. And it's complicated because the work is actually rewarding right now... like I'm energized by an interesting new problem we're solving... but it's just a LOT. And then, you know, I finally wake up with a tiny sliver of time to actually make a beat, and I open the news to see just MORE unmitigated BS out there... so... VERY mixed feelings today. (.づ◡﹏◡)づ

Because I only had a tiny, tiny amount of time, I just sat down at the piano, hit record, and went totally stream of consciousness. I think the resulting noodle really oscillates between hopeful and stressed out... which is probably a pretty good reflection of my general state of being right now.

Anyway... I hope you are all finding some rest this weekend, and staying sane out there. Also I'm behind on commenting... see previous work mentions... but I will hopefully have some time over the next week to get caught up on all the awesome things you'al are making.

Well, thank you! I always love some spacious piano improv. This is really nice.

Ooof that is a lovely piano patch yikes heart the reverb on the melody is soooo good! I wonder what the void mix sounded like too! This was an excellent piano escape, I hope things slow down a bit for ya and you get some much needed rest.

For a squeezed in quickly recorded track, this is really quite beautiful.  It's probably good sometimes to let stuff just pour out of you. Hope things calm down for you as well, but I'm glad what's keeping you so busy is at least rewarding.

The improv feel definitely adds to my interest listening since it feels like it sorta goes where it wants. There's definitely some familiar or repeated sections, but it's really just kinda exploring and that just seems to keep my attention better than something that feels more formulated?? I like it! Great backing pad stuff, just super spacey and dreamlike all around.

Great to hear you sound hopeful through this despite the exhausting week... spring is coming wink

ah... 2:30 spring is delayed hahaha

I love how evocative and communicative this is... wish I could play piano like that!

The reverb is also really good, trailing behind as an enveloping pad

Yeah that piano with auto pad magic sounds great! Your playing is awesome as always. Great reverb happening. Enjoyed the listen. I hear ya on work and time. My work is interesting but sure takes the time and brain energy, leaving me not enough left, it feels like.

Beautiful. All the reverb effect is from the nord? Its a very nice tonal shimmer and well tuned, really quite lovely.

Also I have lost many recordings for the same reason that stupid arm button!

Beautiful piano playing, as always!
Good luck with the work! I hope crunch time reduces in the coming days - life is a marathon, not a continuous sprint.

So beautiful and warm. Great stuff.

Thank you! I'm a total sucker for drowning a piano in reverb to get that spacious feeling. The Hall reverb on the Nord has such a nice, almost ghostly character that I thought was perfect for this kind of ambient noodle.

Thanks so much! That patch is basically just a stock preset on the Nord, but it's one of my favorites for exactly this kind of vibe. As for the "void mix," it's honestly fully lost to the aether... but I'm never too fussed about that kind of thing. It just means the material is still out there waiting to be summoned up again. And thanks for the well-wishes, it's much appreciated. ( ◡‿◡ *)

Thank you. It really is a good exercise to just let it flow without overthinking. The work is definitely rewarding, just a lot of it! I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks! I'm really glad to hear that my musical stream of consciousness is coherent enough to hold attention. It definitely just went where it wanted, so it's nice to know it didn't get too lost along the way.

Haha, yeah, it took a little bit of a darker turn there. I mean, it's rare that I write anything without at least a little sad boy in it. Thanks for listening so closely!

Solidarity! The time and brain energy struggle is absolutely real. It's like having a creative gas tank that's already empty before you even sit down. Thanks for the listen and the kind words.

Thank you! And yeah, it's all the Nord's internal engine. The big reason I upgraded to the Grand 2 was that it has a full, dedicated effects chain for each layer now. So I can have different delays, modulation, and amp sims on the piano and synth layers independently, which is just ridiculously powerful for sound design. And ugh, that record-arm button is the eternal enemy, isn't it? The bane of the one perfect take. (˃̣̣̥∩˂̣̣̥)

Thank you so much, and that's a really important reminder. It's so easy to get stuck in sprint mode. Much appreciated!
